Eublepharis macularius

I wondered why team captain Charly chose the strange name Eublepharis macularius as clan name for the recent 0.19 tournament. Now that the tourney is over I looked it up.

Well, it's just the name for leopard gecko!

It's funny that cute leopard geckos are indeed severe threats for XL1 characters.

Re: Eublepharis macularius

As a leopard gecko owner, can confirm they are deadly opponents capable of killing a trained gladiator in single combat.

BONUS GECKO FACT: "Eublepharis" refers to the fact that, unlike other geckos, they have eyelids; most geckos have clear scales called "brille" over their eyes instead.

An interesting fact is that they rank as top killer #15 in the 0.19 tournament

  Code:
15   leopard gecko (1277 melee, 4 ranged)   1.63%   1281

as well as in crawl's overall statistics

  Code:
15   giant gecko   1.65%   107138

More than 100,000 kills in crawl history!

FR: leopard geckos drop their tails when threatened and the tail flops around and distracts you for a turn

If a player gets poisoned by an adder, then polymorphs it into a gecko, is the kill attributed to a gecko's poison?
Or maybe if a gecko is polymorphed into a dart slug and it kills him at range the killer is deemed to be the gecko after all?

Re: Eublepharis macularius

Why? Why must we be forced into deadly combat against such a tiny adorable little fat tailed dawwww?

not sure if this would make you feel better, but you can pretend they're of the "super giant" breed who look like little alligators Image
