Diminishing returns/less stupidity on Corrosion

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Re: Diminishing returns/less stupidity on Corrosion

Please don't, it is a good way to provide some challenge to character with AC 43 and +9 vampiric lajatang without eternal damnation or torment. We need more things like that in extended, not less.

Re: Diminishing returns/less stupidity on Corrosion

There are already diminishing returns on corrosion. The chance of corrosion sticking decreases based on how many stacks you already have (unless that's been changed recently).

It doesn't diminish very fast though. You have to get to Corr (-36) before the chance of another one sticking goes down to 50%.

That seems a bit extreme, considering that normally if my corrosion ever goes above -4 I will reset the fight.

Succeeded, too. Not sure how I was still doing damage.

As Shard pointed out, if I had been in real danger I would have reset the fight.

Well, many characters don't care because they have spells and their EV is not horrible.

FR: if you have enough corrosion stacks, your weapon starts doing negative damage, healing enemies instead.

Smite targeted corrosion obviously poses a greater threat to characters with less ac and hp than to characters with more.

I would say you're already at the state of diminishing returns, you can't lose any more AC

Re: Diminishing returns/less stupidity on Corrosion

Just my personal experience here:

If I'm playing a character for whom corrosion matters, the second I see an entropy weaver, I'm either moving to an upstair or killing it if I'm absolutely certain I can do so in a turn or two. Given the rate at which they corrode, even through rCorr, the assumption should always be that you'll be in a state like OP's within a very small handful of turns and to play accordingly.

For me, this isn't fun. With other big threats, tormentors, ghost moths, hellfire-hurlers, Ancient Liches, Greater Mummies, etc, there is some meaningful choice to be made in prioritizing your targets as they damage a resource, HP, you can recover by means other than rest if necessary.

Maybe if the corrosion disappeared like Flayed Ghost's damage after they died, I'd consider sticking around. But having an enemy that makes you suck that quickly, no recourse (except maybe cancellation?), for a long time after the fight just doesn't feel like it leaves many options other than stair dancing.
