interesting wanderer starts

So, I don't play much crawl anymore, but when I do I almost only play wanderers. Therefore I'm seeing a lot of really crappy starts, but some are pretty weird or funny.

What prompted me to make this thread was a comical guy I made earlier who started with 3 spellbooks (1 full starter spellbook and 2 of those special books with 2 spells) and low intelligence, no skills to support the spellbooks, and no useful items. Didn't even make it to D2.

Ya got some funny ones too?

edit: i didnt know it was even possible but my latest guy started with a stone of tremor! Of course i had to use it right away to make sure i wasnt dreaming and the 10 friends that came to pinch me didnt wake me.

My favourite Wn start was having like 9? in fighting and no other skill. Is super rare, has not happened again.

My funniest of the day was a start in a room with 2 exits, both of them with a pack of jackals on the other side. I just happened to start with a scroll of teleport so I used and got to a safe place with an amulet and a ring which i immediately put on. They were cursed inaccuracy and teleport. Explored for a bit and got teleported right back between the 2 packs of jackals. And died.

For real, roll wanderers and quit/restart until you get an elemental evoker, you gotta try it at least once, it's really fun and funny!

Having some fun with Draconian wanderers lately. Somehow got two in a row with spellbooks, although the second one was a total mismatch of skills (3 in bows, but not carrying one). Book of Minor Magic and one small Sif book with another school can be fun.

Also have had a couple start out with +2 hand axes, and one of those with a +1 buckler. Almost sailed away with that last set, but got too complacent in deep Spider (0.16).

Had 5 fighting once on a Human which was also not bad... But never 9, yet. Wow.

Can a Wanderer start any of the "rare" low level spells? (The few that don't appear in start books). Confusing Touch, Ignite Poison, Sublimation of Blood, Recall

First two could be interesting in a start; other two are just useless early.

It looks like at least some are possible:

I just rolled several Draconians for kicks offline (0.17 now) and one has:

+2 Hand Axe
Grimoire of Summoning (Summon Butterflies, Recall)
Almanac of Heat (Flame Tongue, Inner Flame)
and a bread ration (yum)

Well, this is about as much good stuff as can be packed in a single start: a spear, a potion of heal wounds, a potion of haste, a wand of random effects. Haven't had a start with an elemental evoker for while sadly.

Either I've been terribly unlucky, but I've noticed after scumming 30 or so, that you can't get both high dex and int on a wanderer, especially relevant for dr and op.

Had a DrWn start with lignification and rage. If you ever get this start your goal is to go the deepest you can and kill the strongest creature possible at xl1.

KoWn started with a +2 dagger. Okay, fine, that fits my aptitudes.

...except, even when you make it +2, an unbranded dagger is never going to kill anything outside of Stab Times.

But I found a +1 spear of distortion! Suddenly, character is amazing.
Stood toe to toe with Duwan and Duvessa at the same time, ultimately sending them to the abyss one after another!

Agreed that starts with an evocable are amazingly fun, but i'd say it happens about once every 50-100 games only, I don't have it in me to scum that much!

Also yesterday I had a hilarious start with 3 weapons and most of my skill points in unarmed, hurray!
