Spell Idea: Summon Iron Guardian

Spell idea. A level 6 or 7 Earth/Summoning spell that produces a stationary statue with several unique properties, that give the spell utility to various kinds of characters.

An iron guardian is "A roughly hewn iron statue of an ogre-sized humanoid, wielding a cudgel and large shield".
  • It's placed at a melee range location on cast (exact targeting).
  • It has virtually no EV; but decent AC.
  • It's HD, HP and (monster) SH scale with spellpower.
  • It doesn't mind being targeted by LRD (doesn't turn hostile). And deals the same damage and radius as a Iron Statue when doing so.
  • It can no longer attack, but remains in place for several turns after breaking LoS (abjuration timer is NOT quickened).
  • It deflects bolts (if a bolt (of lightning, etc.)) hits it's shield (monster SH role) it will be deflected back at the caster. (If it hits it normally the bolt pierces normally).

It's primary purpose is to block a hallway for escape (similar to locking a door behind you); but it can also be used to place clouds over or as a single lone LRD target in an area where LRD wouldn't otherwise be usable. Defensive summoning spell.

So a more expensive lightning spire, except with synergy with a spell that is dangerous to use with other summons? Not to mention that if you have summoning skill, you can just block pursuit in a greater variety of terrain?

I think there's some room for doing something akin to this as a replacement for rmsl/dmsl to make them better spells, but this seems pretty complicated for a spell with an extremely niche use-case. I think the only really interesting part is a "reflect bolts" thing, and that would be better placed as the dmsl replacement, imo.

e: is dmsl even still a thing?
