no, I can think of exactly 2... but they're not that great(1, for points on tournies, and 2, if you wanna do zigs. that gets kinda dull though)

also I feel like at that point in the game you might as well just haste, run in and grab it then tele out if you're gonna go that route. making doing that(in extended specifically, with much less benefit outside of extended) somewhat safer doesn't seem nearly enough to include apportation in your small list of "best spells in the game" to me.

I still don't really understand when I would want to know apportation. Is the idea to just yoink every item you discover while exploring to you instead of walking to them, because that's marginally less risky since a monster could see you? 'cause hoo boy that does not sound fun

I guess for yoinking runes. But it's probably mostly just because it's a level one spell and you get it practically for free by picking up blink.

In the Ten Rune Challenge, apportation is the safest way to get Anteus' rune. Dude is really hard to kill below level 20. Just lure him out of his alcove, disappear, blow up the walls from outside Cocytus with LRD, yoink and never be seen in Hell again.

Yoinking runes is very, very good.

IMO yoinking runes is a lot more fun than getting the smack down on the hell lords. Makes me feel like Frodo.

Here is a very good trick on zot:5

1. Cast Passage of Golubria near the stairs
2. Use teleport until you land within (# of blink scrolls -1)*LoS of the Orb
3. apport the orb
4. Blink once more, pick up the orb, cast passage
5. Pop out near the stairs

This is also effective on Hell:7's and so on. cTele removal actualy made these floors much easier, oops.

You have to make sure a enemy wont enter passage and ruin everything.

that's like the 1 fun part of it. and "smart" play is just "don't do extended"

It's the opposite for me. I enjoy sneaky, quick and relatively safe rune-stealing much more than the (usually very slow) brute force approach. I make an exception to that if I have lvl 8+ spells available.
