New Reaper Unique

Death, Reaper of Souls is a unique reaper which main trait is casting death's door on the player. The idea is for the player to flee or engage into a short, life risking fight. Death may carry the unrand scythe "Finisher".

Cool!

I would say that maybe Death should be able to reappear even if defeated, a la Boris (it's Death, after all)... But should only be encountered in Hell/Abyss/Pan, and I guess Zot if you want to be mean about it.

I mean, there is a legit worry about leaving it alive and kiting it around(stashing it on a higher level would be really easy if it has a polearm) to get invuln against scary things. But if it couldn't spawn on hell endings/special pan floors and couldn't use stairs, that wouldn't be an issue.

Im pretty sure most players consider death's door a bad effect, including minmay(of course its not, it is just a very situational one, cast it wrong and you die, cast it too late and you are already dead). Also, kiting the death around? You cant stack death's door effect, it is hard to find a appropriate timing to cast DD, let alone kite a unique to do it for you.

When i came up with this idea i didnt thought i would have to explain it, its not like we dont have monsters that cannot kill the player(like flayed ghosts or tormentors, which is what the unique boils down to) by the depth they spawn in. So yeah, Death may not kill you(i didnt thought reapers were that weak but apparently they are) but meeting a unique that brings your hp down to 15 on sight even though he makes you immune to damage leaves you vulnerable to anything afterwards. In the scenario where you are fighting death alone and he doesnt damage you its no different than fighting any other unique in this game who cant damage you, but in the scenario of having to fight death amongst other things, or be fighting things when death shows up, or having to fight things after death, changes everything. Also i considered Death would be a Crypt/Vaults/Depths unique.

Make his DDoor a shorter than usual duration.

Also, when the player is invincible give him orb spider AI except instead of firing orbs he just stands at the edge of LOS and says vaguely threatening things.

If this is somehow actually serious: making the player enter DDoor without them casting the spell makes it important for players to understand exactly how DDoor works. Very few players do. Furthermore, uniques are not fought alongside other monsters very often.

No this is not actually serious, which is why its on CYC. Nergalle is in the game and i remember getting killed by it because i did not knew how DD worked, heck i dit not even knew such thing existed, but you can always read a unique spell's description so that was lazy me. Uniques that spawn in vaults or depths usually fight alongside other things.
