Strength in Numbers Monster

What if there was a monster that appeared in packs and received a slaying bonus based on the number of monsters of its type that were in LOS? A group of five of them would each get +5 slaying, say. An existing pack monster that is both common and too weak that could use this sort of buff is river rats.

Good idea! What is more, let's give them an irresistible ranged attack, and let's name them starcursed mass... oh wait.

Yes, I overlooked starcursed masses. I suggested river rats instead of the other packs suggested above because they are way too weak right now; those others don't need buff IMO (except maybe ogres).

Re: Strength in Numbers Monster

Just make cyclops spawn more often with a herd of sheep close to them. Remove large rocks. makes Cyclops always throw sheep. Give cyclops grab range of three tiles to throw sheep. Make sheep explode when thrown. Explosion can cause wall disintegration. After explosion mini sheep a spawned. Kinda like how you could make pebbles out of large rocks back in the day. Mini Sheeps throw themselves at you. In an amusing twist of fate, mini sheep cling to you and act as fluff armor, +1 AC per sheep. Give cyclops the ability to use inner flame. Casts it on clinging sheep. Exploding mini sheep create chunks of meat. If you survive, you don't have to worry about food for a few hundred turns.

Yes, but OP is talking about monsters which individually get attack increases based on the number of total monsters of that type. Like snapjaws in Caves of Qud.

+1 for riverrats, and rename them Cranium Rats too.
