You shouldn't use reflection, as it can make the monster kill itself, preventing you from gaining HP from it with you vampiric weapon.

Where did you get the idea that the advice is supposed to be good? It's certainly not suggested by the topic title or the other posts.

My second post is really the spirit of the thread I was aiming for (good advice with lunatic reasoning). I thought specifying "good" advice in the title would A) cut down really heavily on possible material and B) lead to idiot slap fights "this advice is good no it's not yes it is" so I'm pretty satisfied with what this thread's become.

Banish is Lugonu's strongest power. It stashes monsters in the Abyss that can be killed later to quickly recover from skill or stat drain when needed. Lugonu even lets you banish yourself to get to your private XP-stash!

Scrolls of blinking are good because you can use them to cross narrow expanses of deep water and lava without wasting your potions of flight.

If you're having trouble with Spider or Snake, you should go down to Zot to get an rPois-branded cloak from one of the draconians. That should make it much easier.

Well... where's the good advice there? You can't even actually do that even if you wanted to! Here, let me fix it for you:

Spider and snake are generally a bit easier with rpois, so it's a good idea to equip it if you have it. If you don't have it, you should get a different rune for your 3rd like abyss, or slime, so you can get into zot to kill draconions, so you can get an rpois cloak to more easily complete snake or spider.

Always kill the ironbrand convokers last, since they do you the favor of bringing the monsters to you, saving you the pain of wasting turns hunting them down. Similarly, let the sentinels mark you for the same reason.

I sort of tried that strategy recently in vault5. It went about as well as you might expect... I didn't do that stuff on purpose, but I did choose to fight pretty much all of vault 5 from within a short corridor which had full LOS on the staircase area. I... really don't know what I was thinking...

This is my strategy when I have a vamp weapon, especially axe.

Edit: you probably already knew that.

Save potions and scrolls up -- unused ones give a bonus to score at the end of the game. Yellow ones give triple bonus!

It's usually a good idea to use enchant weapon/armour scrolls as soon as you find them. That way you can save two inventory slots for carrying more wands!

If you worship Trog and find a book shop, make sure to buy all books and burn them — you will get a lot of piety!

...what? That's a waste of money. That's bad advice!

Now, a good one would be "you should burn books under trog to reduce the number of items in the game to speed it up by .000001 ms every time you enter a level."

Ah, so you're saying that you shouldn't burn books, because Trog gives enough piety already, and spells could be good when you abandon him for TSO for extended?

You should pick Ru since if you convert away from him, he will not penalize you in any way, so you can be flexible and retain the option of worshipping other gods in the late game without any additional risk.

Abyss is the best place to get your third rune because it has neqoxecs. You can dance with them to acquire lots of mutations, which decreases the chances that you'll get surprised by an unwanted mutation from an Orb of Fire when you get to Zot.
