Everlasting rations

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Everlasting rations

Artifact food. Is not destroyed when eaten.

(alternate names: horn of plenty, cornucopia)

The idea is to have artifacts that aren't simply weapons or armor/jewelry. Infinite food would offer the occasional refreshing* gameplay experience, and is probably not overpowered.

**: yes it was

Re: Everlasting rations

I think a good model for how to implement this kind of artefact is the butchering knife that all characters carry -- all characters could start with this item, and it wouldn't have to take up inventory space if its presence is implied. After that, we could save button presses if eating happened automatically and took no turns. Another consequence could be the removal of food from generating on the floor.

Re: Everlasting rations

I think you should still have to stop and eat, even if the rations never go away.

Otherwise it completely negates Hungry Ghosts, spell hunger, rod hunger, zerk hunger, etc

Re: Everlasting rations

Hungry ghosts are already pushovers, and the drawbacks for spell/rod/zerk hunger aren't interesting enough that I think they're worth having something as annoying and clunky as hunger. (Especially rod hunger).

Re: Everlasting rations

This is a good idea! You should give it the property that 0 turns are required to consume it, and give every character a copy of such a food item to start the game.
remove food
