Is Simulacra Overpowered?

In places with lots of swarms of monsters, it is quite possible, together with Death Channel, to create swarms of ice replicas and unholy ghostly things to the point that I am unable, in an open space, to cast Simulacra: the swarm completely surrounds me and there is nowhere for new simulacra to be placed!

This may be overpowered. Note that simulacra produces multiple allies, or at least it does in 0.17. I'm still playing that because I only play trunk on servers. (Why? Trunk can have bugs, and I don't like to install things. For my computer, I use a for-sure stable version, but I'm okay with the occasional bug in trunk that is fixed within a few days because awesome devs and upkeepers of the akrasiac.)

and then someone posted off-topic to complain about tavern.

I thanked duvessa's post because it was the correct answer to the OP's question.

Someone had to speak the truth to power. In this case that someone was me.

I did not ask for these burdens.

You take the blue thank, the story ends. You wake up, typing on your computer, and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red thank, you stay in Tavernland, and I show you how deep the conspiracy goes.

Re: Is Simulacra Overpowered?

this thread belongs on reddit

every spell that makes allies is op tho, assuming conjurations are the baseline for spell power level
it is kinda silly though that simulacrum makes multiple simulacra per corpse. maybe they could time out really quickly?

Correction: simulacra is overpowered if you worship kiku, otherwise it is just strong.

Death Channel is a Necromancy spell that is found in Necromancy books. I didn't have to worship Kiku to do this. Therefore, Kiku only strengthens an already-OP thing.

I think that reducing the number of simulacra that come from a corpse would work. They're already tougher and have freezy powers - why does one corpse make so many? Maybe one for small, two for usual and large, three for giant or something?

Re: Is Simulacra Overpowered?

Its because simulacra makes copies based on the number of chunks on the corpse, and for wathever reason some corpses produce 12 chunks even though you only need 3 to go from starving to satiated. Unlike death channel, simulacra doesnt require you to be on LoS of things when they die, just retrieve their corpses later and tell them to wander into other future corpses.

I think throwing was good at its role too, but if that got ruined forever then I'll be damned if those dirty mages get to have any fun.
