I've had enough and this has got to stop
Look folks, I hate to make waves, but it's time that I put down my foot as a moderator and made one thing clear: we are not going to tolerate any more of the terrible behavior that's ruining this forum. For far too long we've been letting a handful of snarky veterans run off new posters with their endless harassment. You know what I mean, but I'm going to say it clearly: hippogriff puns.
I've seen it happen time and time again: some new poster just wants to know how to deal with a certain flying monster, and suddenly the thread fills up with posts like "It hippogrieves me to tell you that there's nothing you can do; hippogriffs are just going to give you hippogrief," followed by response threads about all the "hippogriefers". It's gotten to the point where people can't get advice at all.
"But Lasty," you say, "so what? There's really only one hippogriff pun anyway, so just learn to ignore it. It's just a lot of variations of 'grief'!" I wish you were right, but it's so much worse than that. What about the post last week from gammafunk telling the latest person to post a hippogriff reform thread that the changes would get pushed to trunk "over his hippograve"? What about all the times the Contributions posts about revising the digital representation of hippogriffs have gotten derailed by posts about hippoglyphs? I think we've all seen enough clickbait posts about the latest hippoGIFs, and the long-running thread where people post their best hippogifts has gone on far past its sell-by date.
I don't even want to get started about that stupid thread about common hippogrifts.
I know this is as much my fault as anyone's -- I thought people would get it out of their system after a month or two. I didn't see the harm. But enough is enough; this ends now. Can't someone just post a thread about a new species for once?
