New draconian color

Maybe add another Draconian color(?), BONY draconian.
Gets either:
1) rN+, +2 to necromancy and a draining breath

2) +1 to necromancy and slight resistance to torment.

New players could be confused into scumming for non-existent necromancy draconians because there is implied symmetry between them and dragons. Therefore the lack of bone draconians is spoilery and should be eliminated from the game (or else rename draconians to something that has no relationship with dragons).

On that topic, acid dragons (yes, with acid cloud breath) and pearl draconians, please.

Be much easier to create a Shadow Draconian that gets some form of draining breath and Stealth++ then some suddenly (half?)-undead bone one.

Because draconian colors play a interesting role on a draconian playstyle. The only reason to not have more colors is "you dont want to add more content to the game". Of course, i dont agree with the OP, since draining breath belongs to draconian ghosts, or shadow dragons. Black drakes, on the other hand, breath miasma, having a black draconian with rRot, miasma breath(weaker, single tile cloud or no cloud at all, with a bigger breath timer) and maybe some necro apt could work.

Adding more "content" to the game is inherently bad, so that's a pretty good reason to not want to do it.

Obviously no one has tried saying "bony draconian" out loud, if you had it would already be in the game.

It's enough to make me want to have one more kid so I can name it "Bony Draconian"

Explain?

I agree with the gist of the idea, but more species, more draconian colours, more unrands etc. doesn't seem like an inherently bad thing to me.

Variety improves the game; options (that make the player more powerful) detract from it.

in duvessa's perfect vision of purity crawl is no longer tha game we know, it's a big small, featureless, empty white room with a single jackal in it, looking at you.

if you stare at it long enough you realise it was not the jackal biting you, it was you biting yourself all along... only then you can achieve the ORB, the purest state of mind where a crawler is one with the everything and victory is pure and true.

it's the year 2099 and dcss now means "dungeon crawl soupless stone"

We shall abolish the concept of fun. Our devs are at work upon it now. There will be no play, except play towards optimal survival. There will be no victory, except the victory of ascending with the orb and three runes. There will be no challenge gods, no personal conducts, no using rare artifacts for their novelty. When everybody chooses CeBe for optimal early game we shall have no more need for spells. All competing playstyles will be destroyed.

But always - do not forget this, adozu - always there will be the enforcement of theoretically optimal behavior, constantly increasing and constantly growing bolder. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of choosing the best course of action, and of whining on GDD for removals whenever you die in spite of it.

If you want a picture of the future, imagine a berserker fighting a jackal - for ever.

I guess every devteam gets the players it deserves.

now now, i just thought i'd throw toghether a jackal pack joke, duvessa's minimalism, a matrix quote and playing around with the idea of "ascending" with the orb and see if something funny came out of it, i didn't mean to make a political critique of crawl :P

overall i don't think devs are chasing after optimal play so much or we wouldn't have gozag :P

Of what, spoofing 1984? No, of course not.

That said, I was making fun of duvessa's take on what Crawl should be. I don't think this is what Crawl currently is, or where the dev team intends to take it.

If anything, he should be insulted by it.

Yeah, but I got sick of the meme anyway.

Perhaps I can rally enough support to remove a draconian colour for the next release.

do shadow draconian ghosts get their draining breath converted to draining breath?

also this is the part of the thread where usually someone would say "we can't have shadow draconians because what happens if someone goes tso/ely/zin then turns into one", but dithmenos' awful fire conduct is in the game now, so that argument doesn't really work anymore

Let's be entirely fair here, getting green draconian after converting to TSO is already a thing too.

Do you get penance from breathing gas? i thought you couldnt poison enemies under TSO(or use poison spells, which then includes meph), sure you cant attack confused enemies, but you can benefit from it still. Also, who worships TSO as a Dr?

It's not like you can't leave them for another god if you want to. There's no wrath after all, so it's less harsh than RedDr^Dith.
