Ah. But if you always stab a dude for 3/3 HP, he can't blink/teleport. You don't want to have a 2/3rds dead dude next to you anyway. Gives you a chance to run away. If he's not dead, you failed - need to escape!

Done. Funny thing is - the SInv was actually useless to my Formicid self, yet the regen and the resistances still made it far better than any other amulet I had ever found in terms of utility.

I just found on the 8th level of the dungeon, on my DEWz:

The ring "Reog" (Wiz +Fly rElec rPois rCold)

...not saying it's the best artifact ever, persay, and sure, different builds/species would benefit more, but... it still feels like a difference maker, especially this early and with the less-than-stellar finds I've gotten!

This was on a GrFe, found alongside some other pretty great stuff like a D:2 Akashic Record. It was pretty amazing, allowing me to oneshot or twoshot most of the early Dungeon enemies. Sadly because I'm still getting used to pure Caster gameplay (I've played a ton of SpEn but they use casting to boost their melee, rather than being pure blasters) I splatted this one on Grum's wolves. I had a wand of hasting and everything I should've used... silly me.

Try a GrEE^Veh. Or a GrCj^Veh. They're resilient and powerful, and let you ignore quite a few elements.

It's perfect! Except for stealth, it all makes sense! -Cast doesn't matter, MR- can easily be overcome with Trog's Hand in all relevant situations, Str+10 will give you ridiculous boosts when combined with berserk, and Stealth... doesn't matter. I guess it makes it so that you have a 1% chance of escaping Boris before he notices you, rather than a 0.1% chance? :P

Stats are not useless. Especially when compared to GDR, which you should basically always ignore.

A bunch of Str will help a lot with plate's dodging penalty, and will give a good increase in damage.

Yeah, and if i had 13 enchant armor scrolls id be sure to get it, unfortunately the game only spawned 3.

Stats are certainly not useless. As someone that frequently turns high-int casting backgrounds into armoured melee bruisers, I can attest to the difference a lower strength stat can make compared to a Be or a Fi. It might not be the most important thing to have by a long shot, but it does have an effect. That plate is golden for a Trogite IMO, and as long as I had at least rF from some other source I'd wear it over any normal GDA, haha. That's just me.

Oka just gifted me this beauty: the +5 pearl dragon armour of Servitude (worn) {+Blink rN+ Slay+5}. It's not the *best* randart ever generated, but damn is it good. It also demonstrates that Oka is more capable of gifting very cool and useful items than he is sometimes given credit for. He's also given me a randart battleaxe in the same game, but that one's nothing worth writing home about and indeed I'm using a +2 flaming example over it.

I could go on a bit of a tangent about Oka's gifts vs. acquirement. I've heard many folks give him flak for dropping trash on your head, but after playing a long series of games with him I've become comparatively much more disdainful of the latter. The scrolls have been every bit as inconsistent and occasionally useless as the gifts, if not more so.

I'm not about to buy it since I'm playing a GrEE^Veh but that's pretty funny artifact. Since there's no anti-foo brand in this game, it lets you fly instead so you can go whack the giant in the face. :lol:

Well I don't need it because I've got spells. And also a staff of energy. Though I guess I could use it at some point if I feel like going extended, which since this is the furthest I've ever gotten with a pure caster, I probably won't.

The fact that it's called of Hopscotch makes me imagine it's a shield given to trainees at a school, so they can play around on the playground without hurting themselves or each other. It's meant to make them think they're cool for having a shield while making them easy to pin down if they need to be by the adults.

I feel like a character who finds a +10 rapier of elec on D:4 immediately stops being a caster and starts being a rapier fighter. Unless they're unfortunate enough to be playing a felid.

Yes. I mean I would use it only in situations when I don't care (or probably where I even want) berserking.
I mean I am not going to die without that rapier and that rapier can kill me in some situations so it is strictly bad for me as default weapon

and *rage early on ins't *so* deadly for a support weapon. Sure you can't use as main tool of offence, but in a secure environment it isn't so bad
