Overconfidence is a hidden {*RAGE, Mesm} effect. You don't want to run away from the monster and you can't think of anything else except landing one more hit.

Oh yeah, sorry, it was a -1, +1 staff. Not exactly inspiring, but I've seen worse.

Obviously I dropped it since this was on an Ashenzari Vampire character using Short Blades (and I already have rF+++, two things with MR, and I've cleared Orc, so that + Mutagenic as well meant drop for me). Still, amusing.

this might be the best artifact, but it's junk to my SpEn...
  Code:

 Okawaru accepts your kill.
 Something appears at your feet!
_Okawaru grants you a gift!
 Press: ? - help, v - describe, . - travel

_Floor.

This is even more amazing considering I just learnt Olgreb's Toxic Radiance with this character (my first long surviving Necromancer), and was angsting about continually poisoning myself with it. Now I can use it without fear, though switching over from Crazy Yiufs hilarity staff is a shame.

Also, quick question, will Excruciating Wounds work with this?

I know mace isn't that great a base type, but it trains me for eventual demon whip, right?

And if I'm not mistaken it'll be, what, 7 delay halved from 14, +14 to hit, 10/11-ish damage max?
It has equivalent DPS to a cold brand quick-blade with the same +11/+4, according to Weapon Lab (assuming no weakness vs hobgoblin, and going with my 0 in Short Blade / 3 in M&F of course). It'll serve until something better; and in any case, it's meant as {casting support => finishing a foe} more than anything; I don't have anything else that gives +rPois at this stage and being able to spam Toxic Radiance makes my life alot easier since this is a casting centric character (pain! Pain! Agony! PAIN! was the usual gig before... cleared out Orc 4 this way with assistance of Regen, Corpse Rot and Raise Dead for the 2-head ogre zombies) that avoids melee as much as possible.

Although something already better for melee just came along for me. Just found a Pain Brand +3/+4 Spear as well. What's with all the randarts today? Considering the high Necro skill, I believe this deals better damage.

EDIT: (checks... yep... 7.1 damage a turn instead of 5.6).

Finally, Trog gave me (MiBe) a good artefact that didn't get me killed.

a - the +3,+15 broad axe "Quggiw" (weapon) {god gift, chop, Stlth++}
(Trog gifted it to you on level 10 of the Dungeon)

Of course, that could be partially becauce of the Crystal Plate Mail I found in the Bailey on the same level. I have since enchanted it to +10... :D

Can you imagine a sentient octopus trying to wield a quarterstaff? It would be very difficult for it not to grab onto the proverbial sharp bits. (Whatever portion of the staff isn't insulated from the pain effect.)

Not the best or worst, but oddly appropriate:

the +0,+3 mace of the Beginning {crush, MR Str+3 Dex+4}

It's the very first randart I found for my Ogre Conjurer. And if I may say so... It's a very good mace to start.

D - the -9 crystal plate mail of Kekh {god gift, Dex-1 Dam+2}

I don't think I had ever seen an item with a -9 enchantment before. I just hope my MDFi survives long enough to be able to switch gods. May go with Lugonu just so I can desecrate an Oka altar.

Oka, that ************ *** ** * *** *** * ********** *****, after spending half the game giving me unenchanted pieces of armour for slots I had already filled with something better and weapons I had never even picked up from the floor let alone trained the skill for, finally sees fit to give me a weapon of the type I was waiting for the whole time. It was really a long time coming. You could very well say I was getting impatient.
So, what does the ************* ***** ** ****** **** give me?

The +1,+4 demon trident of Impatience {god gift, drain, *TELE rC+ Int+2}

x - the ring of the Moon {cTele, +Inv, Str+3, Int+3, SInv, Stlth--}

In comparison to some of what you guys have this is awful but I think this might be one of the best randarts I've ever gotten (I usually have crummy luck with randarts). Stealth doesn't matter to me since I'm a heavy armor Trog worshipper.

I haven't had much that would make it into this thread (apart perhaps from the robe of misfortune :(), so here is the best I've had for a while:
the +1 pair of boots "Phorrumu" (worn) {rF++ Str+1 Dex+4 Dam+1}
Which was certainly a lot more fun than the boots of fun:
the +1 pair of boots of Fun {rF+}
Although in the shoals, boots of levitation were certainly fun.

But my dilemma is, is Phorrumu more fun than a pair of boots of running? :?
I think so. As only a level 20 mage with 159 HP, inbuilt repel missiles, an evasion of 28, and shields up to 21 so far, I have not actually needed to run away for a while.
The YASD is just waiting to happen. :mrgreen:

And so, to follow up my own post, we have:
b - the cursed +2 cloak of Wrong Decisions (worn) {rF+ MR Acc+3 Curse}
Where, as far as I can see, the only wrong decision would be not wearing it to arrive at a total of rF++, rc+++ and extremely resistant to hostile enchantments... (My ring of ice cancels the pip of rF.)

Satisfaction has a price.
Perhaps the maker of this thing thought that in order to receive some satisfaction, you need to stop blocking everything and running away from anyone, but still keep your mind shielded from charms.
