This is one kick-ass hat. It's got everything. :)

u - the cursed +1 cap "Ryimoc" (worn) {rElec rF+ rC++ Dam+4}
(You found it on level 3 of the Lair of Beasts)
It affects your damage-dealing abilities (+4).
It protects you from fire.
It greatly protects you from cold.
It insulates you from electricity.
It has a curse placed upon it.

It's downright dapper too. Shows up as a little black bowler hat when I wear it. :lol:

I submit for your evaluation the ring "Arimyonk" {CTele, +Blink, +Inv, rElec, Stlth++} which I found on Lair 5. With a kenku air elementalist, no less. I didn't really expect to find something so early that would make me consider taking off my other randart ring with +4 slaying.

I have no excuse for not winning this game now, but I suppose we'll see if it plays out that way.

Urm....what's your other other ring, that's better than a randart ring with +4 slaying??

Oh, just a non-special vanilla ring of poison resistance. Slaying wasn't as useful against the three thousand elephants infesting the bottom few levels of Lair as Poisonous Cloud, and I hadn't gotten any decent alternative attacks from Sif Muna yet. So I judged not killing myself with my own clouds as being higher priority than the slaying bonus.

I just found Zonguldrok and the Dragon King in the same vault at the bottom of Crypt 8-)

I tried using both of them at once straight away (with STR 20, Armour 8 and Long Blades 0) and it didn't go so well... I don't care so much about Zonguldrok, awesome though it is, but I must get the King working. Can anyone give me a quick heads-up on what I should be doing?

I made myself a Swamp Dragon armour to get started (swapping out my randart leathers)...

You need strength 27 to eliminate the strength penalty, which applies to accuracy as well as spell success. Armor skill will have a smaller effect, but you'll need so much that you'll probably finish the game before you max that out. Spellcasting of any sort will be basically impossible no matter what.

At the opposite end of the awesomeness spectrum, I just turned up the following in Elf:5:

the +0 leather armour of Nihilism {rF+}.

Well I'm really glad I waded through all those Blademasters, Master Archers, Demonologists, Death Mages and their assorted little mates for that :lol:

My laster character found the Sword of Zonguldrok on d4. Awesome sword, was planning on using it (zombies be damned) but then found the +11,+11 morningstar "Eos" on d6.. Also, did you know you get both the xp for defeating them the first time and then the xp for destorying the resulting zombie?

My artifact of the day:
  Code:
 i - the ring of The Shining One's Envy (left hand) {rN+ MR Str+2 Dex+4}
   (You found it on level 7 of the Elven Halls)

It really satisfyingly ties my ensemble together - I'd been waiting for an extra pip of rN so that I could retain rN+++ whilst wielding this:
  Code:
q - the +1,+1 long sword "Skiema" {elec, rElec EV+5 Dex+2 Int+2}
   (You found it on level 1 of the Swamp)

My other stuff:
  Code:
 d - the +5 helmet "Kiemm" (worn) {Int+2 Stlth++}
   (You acquired it on level 1 of the Shoals)
 J - the +3 robe of the Butterfly (worn) {rN+ MR EV+5 Int-1}
   (You bought it in a shop on level 4 of the Shoals)
G - the +1 pair of gloves of Esimn (worn) {EV+6 Dex+4 Int+1}
   (You found it on level 7 of the Elven Halls)

Buffed, I'm up to EV 56, and that extra dexterity and MR has pushed me up to extraordinarily stealthy/uncannily resistant. :)

I got this in my last game:
  Code:
 16759 | D:12    | Identified the cursed bow "Owneg" {frost, +Inv rElec rPois Str+4 SInv} (You found it on level 12 of the Dungeon)
as well as this which is similar:
  Code:
 70857 | Crypt:3 | Identified the cursed mace of Evisceration {freeze, rElec rPois rF+ AC-2 Int+2} (You found it on level 3 of the Crypt)

eventually I used the mace for the rF+

I was playing a spellcaster so I was only interested in the resistances :)

  Code:
u - the Elemental Staff {protect, Hunger Noisy rF++ rC++ MR}

Accuracy rating: +6    Damage rating: 7   Base attack delay: 120%

It protects the one who wields it against injury (+5 to AC).

It greatly protects you from fire.
It greatly protects you from cold.
It increases your resistance to enchantments.
It makes noises.
It speeds your metabolism.

This weapon falls into the 'Staves' category. It is a two handed weapon.

This powerful staff used to belong to the leader of the Guild of Five Elements.

It weighs around 18.0 aum.

This ancient artefact cannot be changed by magic or mundane means.

wow... two unrands in a row... both from a trove
  Code:
E - the Spriggan's Knife (weapon) {MR EV+4 Dex+4 Stlth++}

A dainty little knife.

Accuracy rating: +5    Damage rating: 3   Base attack delay: 100%

It affects your evasion (+4).
It affects your dexterity (+4).
It increases your resistance to enchantments.
It makes you much more stealthy.

This weapon falls into the 'Short Blades' category. It is a one handed weapon, and it is best used by the dexterous.

This knife was made by Spriggans, or for Spriggans, or possibly from Spriggans. Anyway, it's in some way associated with those fey
folk.

It weighs around 1.0 aum.

This ancient artefact cannot be changed by magic or mundane means.

  Code:
y - the -5 robe of the Ecumenical Temple {rElec MR Int+1 Dam+4 SInv}
   (You found it on level 4 of the Dungeon)

   It affects your intelligence (+1).
   It affects your damage-dealing abilities (+4).
   It insulates you from electricity.
   It increases your resistance to enchantments.
   It enhances your eyesight.

Wow, I'm glad this thread existed to make me check over my inventory! I knew that I had some nice jewelery this game, but I only just realized that this looks like a fun combination:
M - the amulet "Kuz Phoph" (around neck) {Spirit Acc+2 Dam+2 Stlth--}
f - the ring "Yteit" {rElec rF+ Str+2 MP+9}
On the other hand: T - a +4,+5 ring of slaying (left hand)

This gives me 43 extra HP on a HO-Pr, going the heavy armor route, with no magic. :-)

I had been wearing G - the ring "Mustruig" (right hand) {+Blink rElec Int+4 Dam+3 Stlth--} figuring the damage bonus went quite nicely with the slaying.
Does anyone know how Str+2 compares to Dam+3 for an axe-wielder?

I don't think I'll use this unless I'm running away:
The ring of the Orange Skies {rF+ rC++ MR Dam-3}

I'm a short-blade berzerker. I don't think buying that $1200 manual of long blades would make the ring worthwhile.

Same game:
The cursed +0 dragon armour of a Thousand Hells {+Lev rPois Dam-6}
I'd love rF, rPois, and Levitate, but it doesn't make up for Dam-6. And I spent $2k on it in an antique shop, leaving me with $100.
Thet leaves me short to buy the prize I find on the next level I enter:
The +3 chain mail of Tapp {rElec rPois Dam+3 SInv}

Edit: Another scroll of acquirement, with the same character. I understand not getting what you want from a scroll of acquirement, but you'd think I could at least get something I'd ever want to use.
