Bonemail

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Bonemail

- the cursed +3 Bonemail {SH+3, rN+, *curse}

A strange suit of mail that appears to be made from bone. You can feel your bones ache as the bonemail calls out for them to join it.

Artifact chain mail. Every time you kill something, it autocasts cigutovi's embrace.

Re: Bonemail

I like it. the enchantments are bad comparedto Zonguldrok, but the passive is better. I think it could be an actual fixedArt; certainly more balanced than Robe of Vines.

How would the good gods feel about a follower wearing this?

Re: Bonemail

Does it have an encumbrance rating/ does it provide AC?

Could potentially make food a problem in a Gozag sort of way, except that you can't buy food shops. The downside to this is that now optimal play becomes removing this armor to deal with corpse-dropping popcorn, unless the ability is somehow toggleable.

edit: although this behavior is limited by the # of rc scrolls you have. Also presumably it would just be a chain mail, duh.

That was an accidental thank. Anyways; Zonguldrok is the same way and it manages to be a decent artifact.

  Code:
Sword of Zonguldrok: +9 double sword {reaping, *Curse} Kills with the sword reanimate as friendly undead; all corpses not killed by this sword will immediately reanimate as hostile undead that do not provide XP. Even wielding this is bad if you worship one of the good gods. Corpses killed by IOOD, Petrify + LRD, Disintegrate or dying with Inner Flame still turn into chunks.

Re: Bonemail

It could alternately have *drain if *curse isn't enough. Good gods wouldn't like it because of necromancy.

The only way Zonguldrok manages to be decent is just because it's a +9 double sword anyway. Reaping is nice in theory, but in practice you wind up having to kill a lot of things twice because your zombies manage to get in the last hit once you've got a few of them shambling around. Between that and the annoyance involved in eating, I generally don't bother with it if I have any sort of weapon that's competitive with it damage wise.

Re: Bonemail

The annoyance in eating problem could be solved by having it only cast embrace 50% of the time. Embrace would then have to be changed to a targeted version that only affects the freshest corpse, which is maybe more flavourful anyway (it adds the bones of each enemy that you kill one by one, while the current version alllows kiku sacrifice to be very good with it).
