BSE: Amulet of Gourmand => Amulet of Ham
https://github.com/jcjohnson/neural-style
- Code:
Replace the amulet of the gourmand with the amulet of [ham]
The problems with the amulet of gourmand are similar to the ones with the
staff of energy: the hunger effects are almost completely useless except for
dealing with high hunger spells and berserk; promoting under-training
spellcasting. Unlike the rod, the amulet also had no more interesting use
due to lack of evocations use to make it interesting, encouraging you to
throw it away it in whenever the staff is found.
The one place where amulet of gourmand really felt useful was on Berserkers,
since they want to berserk all the time and their berserk is long-lasting.
In general, we don't want to resolve this; as the strategic cost of hunger
is to be a good balance to prevent overuse of these things. Hunger shouldn't
be a completely trivial non-cost.
Meanwhile, the new amulet of [ham] is an evil amulet that turns the wearer
into a pig and is usually found cursed. Being a pig grants a nice movement
speed bonus at the cost of being unable to wear any armour or wield any weapons
giving a similar boost to Vampire's batform. You may be turned into any other
bad form on unequip so be careful.
This is one of the more experimental designs in the new set of amulets, and
as such I expect it'll get tweaked a few times and it may eventually get
removed or replaced.
This has been a BSE; BullShit Essay.
