Just a wild thought.

This sounds like a buff at first, but makes haste appropriately costly.

Make haste not end by itself, so that it is timerless. But make it stop if you quaff cancellation, or if you go into red glow and explode.

In a way, cancellation becomes the limiting factor in terms of how much haste you can have without consequences.

Note also that "Haste Other" can now become a hex in the hands of monsters, not just an ally buff.

Suddenly Formicids seem about 30% less terrible, because with this change haste is now inaccessible to every species.

by the way, putting on Stasis already dispels haste, at the cost of contamination

haste lasts plenty long already, and this change would make it like Borgnjor's Revivification, as every time you cast it there's a permanent cost to you character.
