Crawl inconsistencies

Crawl is full of fluff inconsistencies and it is important to root them all out. Let's all try together to list them all.
First example - player followers of Yred that die have their corpse rise as a mindless zombie.

Why doesn't the same happen to the monster Death knights?

TSO/Beogh/Zin/Xom can resurrect the player, but NEVER any of their other followers. Favoritism much?

That is a good idea for a change to holy pan.

The only good change you could make to holy pan is removing it, probably, and I say that as somebody who loves my guaranteed source of sacred scourges and PDAs.

Mh, in .10 I once avoided starving in Pan only by stumbling upon Holy... All those tasty swine, phoenixes, cows, dragons...

Re: Crawl inconsistencies

Another thing that bothers me is the lack of clear correspondece between the draconians and the dragons. Why aren't "black" draconians blue like the electric breathing dragons, where are the yellow acid spitting dragons, where are the grey dragons, etc...

Clearly, the draconians-dragon correspondence should be made into a bijection. Then, the spell "dragon form" for draconians will finally make proper sense.

Iron dragons exist, and are also gray.

Delivered in a posh annoying voice: "It is a common misconception among Crawl zoologists to relate the iron dragons with the grey draconians, just as some relate the red panda to the panda bear. The iron dragon has a breath weapon, whereas the grey draconians lack that, even in dragon form. Hence the two species are unrelated. QED."

Re: Crawl inconsistencies

Iron dragons actually pick at their scabs and throw them at you. That's what metal splinters is.

Grey draconians don't get a breath weapon because they know better.

The Black Draconian / Blue Storm Dragon thing is annoying, for sure.

Re: Crawl inconsistencies

Beogh smites anyone who smashes an orcish idol. In former versions, TSO would smite slayers of angels.

If gods are allowed to harm each other's property without anyone "asking" them to smite, then why do they have followers at all?

According to these rules, whenever you play a demonspawn necromancer, Zin and TSO could recite to you and smite you, taking turns every aut -- while you dodge between countless jellies and fungi in dithmenos' pitch-black eternal night.

It's not too hard to come up with a consistent rule here, though, such as "gods are allowed to use force to retaliate for destruction of their property", for whatever definition of "property".

He doesn't do that anymore? Awww, that's too bad. I loved it when my Demonspawn got suddenly smited and just answered with "next time, bring your A-game!".

One from my wife, watching:

"Scrolls of blinking? Why would you need a scroll to briefly shut your eyes?"

So there you go, I suggest we change the name to scrolls of teleporting-but-just-a-bit, or make their functionality match their name.

Re: Crawl inconsistencies

One further thing that bothers me. It is established that the gods can do things impossible via other means. For example Lugonu's second power works on Formicids, Trog's hand provides regeneration that heals Deep Dwarfs, etc...

Why is it then that Formicids can't use Okawaru's Finesse or Trog's Berserk?
