Deep Dwarves and bats

Isn't it optimal for a deep dwarf to lure bats around with him wherever he goes? They provide a completely harmless meat shield that other enemies won't attack.

They can block retreat path I think.

Bats would be especially good to have around Aizul for any character, really, because their weak melee attacks would wake you up before aizul can hit you.

Remove bats. They encourage optimal behavior and they are tedius and dumb. Replace with new species of goblin, 'red goblins', which are angry and bounce around erratically in the dungeon.

Chei can also put you to sleep (the other way to do the bat challenge)

Can't you simply shoot yourself with a needle of sleeping?

Also, what if you have total negative AC, for example using -X rings of protections - does it not add random 1d(-AC) damage?

finding the needles is the hard part, i eventually got sick of trying and paralysed myself in front of agnes instead
