Jiyva stat shuffle is the worst god feature in the game.

If you wanted some str, you should have worn high encumbrance armour, like mottled dragon armour.

Jiyva stat shuffle was good when it was mostly controllable. I don't know how it works now but it sounds like it's much harder to control.

I'm actually reasonably happy with my strength being where it is - my final base str was 3 when I left, so I'm not quite at 1, and I have a +4 str ring randart with enough good stuff on it that I'll probably wear it for a very long time. Then in statue form it's another +2 for a total of 9 str. Ideally I'd take another 5 dex and move it to int, but I wanted to move on to makhleb for the healing rather than stick with Jiyva for hell.

Overall I like stat shuffling but it's definitely somewhat abusable. I was able to take out the orb spiders with evokables + punching, although I could also have just rested until the form ended, I don't think two spiders could have done much. Bat form still does somewhat decent damage with 27 UC, at least against an orb spider.

Ehh...STR's affect on Melee and Large Rocks makes that not true, unless you are a pure spellcaster.

Unarmed scales better on dexterity, so really it's just the large rocks. And dragon armor...you should be able to wear at least PDA without collapsing.

Actually that's not true at all, damage is always weighted towards strength, stat damage for UC is 75% str, 25% dex, the most that something can get from dexterity (daggers and quick blades) is 50% dex, 50% str.
