Slammuu, the Lord of Doors

Appreciates:
Finding doors.
Using doors. (jk lol)
Killing monsters that cannot use doors.
Killing monsters that destroy doors (Xtahua, jellies)
(new) Killing vault wardens.
Unlocking the Vaults, the Realm of Zot, and treasure troves.
Quoting Jim Morrison.

Deprecates:
Destroying doors (penance)

Passive Abilities:
Lets you see through closed doors as if they were empty tiles.
Doors never creak upon opening.
Door mimics become friendly on sight.
(new) Disables enemies from following you up/down stairs (a good thing and a bad thing)

Active Abilities:
Back Entrance: Replace a single wall with a hidden door. Monsters cannot see or use a hidden door until they see you use it.
Bury Alive: turns all tiles around you into doors, as long as no monster/wall/water is on that tile. Items around you are pulled onto your square. Great synergy with the next ability.
Doorstopper (was Lock Up): makes all enemy attempts to open doors fail. Lasts ( 1d(invocations) + piety/20 ) turns.
Portify: all walls in a (piety/20) radius around the player become closed walls.
Animate Doors: turns all closed doors in LOS into allied door mimics. Their HP and attack rating scales with invocations skill. High-end doors can fly, are fast, and hit hard.

Wrath:
All allied door mimics become hostile.
Periodically entombs you with hostile door mimics. Random walls may turn in hostile door mimics.
Until wrath ends, using a door has a 50% chance of failing, monsters can see you through doors, and all doors creak loudly when opening.

Probably Vault Wardens should turn neutral like is done with Fedhas/Jiyva.

Bury alive should be called Tomb of Dooroklohe.

This actually sounds like it would be fun and balanced.

using doors to build up piety seems a little overpowered :?

i feel there needs to be an active ability to turn regular doors into runed doors somewhere

Why? It could be a fun god for a stabber. Much of roleplaying also for those who care.

Though I'm not sure this could stand alone as a complete god, those Door-Abilities would be a great powerset to include with the random gods (if they ever get implemented)

I'm not sure Fedhas Madash can stand alone as a complete god, but there he is.

Corpses are not as rare as doors are. Though those gods do have something in common - Fedhas lures monsters to oklobs, your god lures monsters to doors.

What do you mean, corpses are not as rare as doors? I think Orc and Shoals are the only branches low on both naturally occurring doors and monsters incapable of using doors.

How do these abilities encourage luring to doors? Slammuu helps you summon, escape, spy, and get into otherwise inaccessible areas. If Animate Doors only activated summons for a brief period before they reverted to plain doors, or if you locked up doors to create chokepoints, then it might encourage luring. But that can be solved by making these abilities somewhat expensive for both cases.

It's worth remembering that door mimics block LOS, making them a very special and tricky summon.

I mean that I can kill monsters to get corpses anywhere. Don't you see a contradiction between 2nd and 3rd paragraphs?

You can use Back Entrance or Portify on walls anywhere to get doors. Last time I checked, walls were more common than corpses. What's the contradiction between the 2nd and 3rd paragraphs?

I assume that creating doors from walls will cost piety so it is better to lure monsters to existing doors.
Contradiction is in "why lure to doors?" and "you can create powerful allies from doors".

It can work like the following, so that you can litter the dungeon with doors at rather low cost, but using them efficiently is difficult. The only problem in this case is that it would trivialize Swamp/Spider/Slime. To counter this, make Slammuu grant door-opening abilities to every creature. Slammuu still gives piety for killing creatures that can't naturally open doors. Note, you can still hide behind back entrances, if monsters haven't seen you use them.

Back Entrance: low cost
Bury Alive: low cost
Doorstopper (was Lock Up): HIGH cost
Portify: low cost (but not a great thing to do in most situations, exposing yourself like that!)
Animate Doors: HIGH cost, low duration, thus not spammable

There's yet another approach that can negate luring: if AD creates permanent (durable) door allies that just can't travel between levels. This god also prevents you from dragging monsters across levels. So, there would be less luring with this god than you would have with any other character.

I count myself among the lucky 90% of western civilization to have never seen space jam and I intend to keep it that way.

Space Jam is a fantastic documentary film, based on the real life adventures of Micheal Jordan. Haven't you ever wondered why Micheal Jordan is on the $5 bill? It's because he saved the entire world with his basketball and acting skills.

Also, just to put the icing on the cake, the number 1 all time hit song was made for that movie.
It's your chance, do your dance, make you feel fine! Gonna take it into overtime! Talking bout the space jam! Alright!

Maybe make praying send doors in LoS to the divine doormake for piety? This turns doors to an interesting resource and combined with monsters not following to other levels ensures that one does not simply walk to more doors.
