Cursed Doors

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Cursed Doors

So, we have monsters that can seal doors and we have mimics impersonating stairs and such, but what about trick/cursed doors? They could turn out to be a mimic, or they could shut and seal behind you once you pass through. Would that be an ugly, perhaps fun-ruining mechanic? How terrible of an idea is this?

Re: Cursed Doors

You used to be able to get trapped to death in the Orcish Mines if you used escape hatches and ran out of digging/teleport. You can't get trapped like that anymore. Cursed doors, if they turn into rock after you pass them, might allow players to get trapped like that again.

Re: Cursed Doors

I don't think going through every door you pass once to check it isn't cursed is fun.

I also don't see the benefit this feature is suppose to be adding?

Re: Cursed Doors

There already exists something similar to what you are proposing: a trap called a "pressure plate". If you step on it, sometimes, an iron grate appears, sealing off some parts of the dungeon.
