Why are there Poison or Physical High Tier Wands?

Why are there Poison or Physical High Tier Wands?

High End Conjurations Wands are {Fire, Cold, Draining and Lightning}.

Why isn't there a wand of Venom (Bolt of Venom) or a Wand of Energy (Physical damage bolt)? [Or Wand of Iron (Iron Shot), if the Energy is too weird]?
I'm beginning to feel like a Cat God! Felid streaks: {FeVM^Sif Muna, FeWn^Dithmenos, FeAr^Pakellas}, {FeEE^Ashenzari, FeEn^Gozag, FeNe^Sif Muna, FeAE^Vehumet...(ongoing)}

because simmetry is one of the most important design goals in this game, followed closely by flavour.

Isnt Disintegration a reasonable energy wand? I zap stuff with it from time to time but dont pay much attention to results, its an ace-in-the-hole when im out of more known combat wands.

I can see I would use a 'Sting' wand heavily, but thats the niche I currently use needles in, early D/O/L. Not sure I'd use Venom so much, when I go for my wands I want kills this turn, but thats probably an effect of the melee/hybrid styles I usually run.

I wasn't counting Disintegration, since it seem checks MR and not AC.

There is a wand that shoots bolts for physical damage, it's called a crossbow

Yeah, but it requires a different skill and the damage scales differently from wand damage.

Yep, crossbows don't have to be equipped and can be fired from your inventory, and don't require any separate ammunition, just like wands! Oh wait, the opposite of that is true.

In the same way, shields are spells that do drowning damage, and swords are the same as rods, except they heal undead. Because saying things that just aren't true is fun!

Magic wands actually do appear to respect AC; at the very least my level 1 wizard mode character with +80 scale mail was often able to survive blasting himself with a wand of fire, often taking 0 damage. It'd also explain why Magic Dart sometimes does 0 damage despite never missing.

note to self: never make a bolt pun here again
