An orc wizard just did a full 10 damage to a character of mine with 14 AC and plate armour on. Confused, I took a look at their monster info to see what was going on; magic dart is capped at 1d8 on the player's side. Turns out they roll 3d4 on theirs.

I feel like I should be annoyed by this, but it's really pretty funny. They seem the type to be dirty, cheating bastards. Can't have the green guys hogging all the fun, after all. It might be a bit nice if the information was more visible, however, given how mislead I was, at least, by assuming a magic dart is a magic dart.

I wonder what cheaty goodness Sigmund pulls for his magic...

EDIT: 3d4 magic dart for him as well. He really is just an orc wizard with a scythe, 10 more HP over an orc wizard's maximum, 1 less EV, and 10 less MR. And he doesn't cast haste. Honestly, it's not very impressive a comparison given his reputation! I'm certainly surprised at how much experience he's worth over his common counterpart.

JEEZ. About the only thing that could make it perfect is if you got mutation resistance 3 so nothing could take them off.

I had Necromutation, so yeah, nothing could take them off.

Xom waited until it wore off during autotravel to take one rank off my Robust 3, though. But it also cured my deterioration so I could have a full-benemut list.

One finds 14 scrolls of enchant weapon before their first rune. It allows me to enchant whatever I please to +9 without any possible argument from the little nagging voice in the back of my head whining "but...but what if you theoretically find an executioner's axe? The wastefulness! IT MIGHT ONLY BE +7 AT THE END OF THE GAME, BECAUSE YOU USED THESE SCROOOOLLLLS."

but what if you theoretically find two exec axes - first a nice branded one and then one of holy wrath?

I meet Terence in the early game and decide to take him on from the edge of the screen with various ranged attacks, but he survives with some HP before closing in. As he arrives right next to me, he quaffs a potion and goes berserk. However, this also identifies a berserk potion in my inventory that had been hitherto unidentified - thus I counterberserk and kill him.

Awesome zoolike things all over D:4, and a yin/yang Yred/Ely altar vault. I love these vaults. It makes DCSS a lot more appealing than, say, NetHack. Although balance and streamlining is good too...

Don't wear-id randart rings, as it might be horrible and have contam or drain.

That's ok as long as you have a potion of cure mutations and are not going to play extended. Drain is not a big deal, we have amulet of harm so I got used to it

That's weird game, I found +6 scale mail with Str+5 and Int+4 so now I have level 5 spells at 8% (grey) and level 4 at 1% on Lair 6 despite Wild Magic and scale mail (as Ds who does not have great aptitudes) and defenses AC 25/EV 20. Chei is OP sometimes.
