*shat.
in my city, there is a three where hundreds of herons live. it is a huge three. the sidewalk below it is filled with bird crap, and part of the street too. people drive two blocks more so they dont pass below that tree. when I did not know that, I tried to pass it running, and got shat upon 3 times before reaching the other side. fucking herons. I hate them so damn much.

well i was thinking that this wouldn't have happened if my regular aftershave didn't smell like a disinfectant, because the different smell as i lifted my hands to my face would have snapped me out of it, so clearly a change was in order

at the airport today, waiting for a delayed flight, this girl i was with asked me what my favourite animal was after we were discussing penguin biology for a while (by which i mean i tried to throw in the few things about penguins i know while she revealed her freakishly extensive knowledge about penguins). i think i failed some kind of test because she was pretty cool towards me the rest of the evening ánd didn't wait for me when we arrived in berlin. i guess "uh.... noone has asked me that for 12 years.... uuuuh.... owls are prettty cool... yes, i know everyone likes owls, that's because they're great, i guess i like bats too, did you know 25% of mammal species are bats? (5 minutes later) wait, it's zebrafish, zebrafish are my favourite animal" isn't the right answer, which is especially depressing because in retrospect, i should have just named any penguin species but emperors and all would be well. i guess i thought it would look incredibly fake if i said penguins, but i should have at least picked any other bird, who knows. may i just say who the fuck is 22 years old and asks people what their favourite animal is? at least she didn't know that 25% of mammal species are bats

Re: The Debate Derail Thread

man, that's a shitton of bat-species.
but people do strange things to get warm with someone they are attracted to. my ex, a very religious girl at the time, was a little bit scary at my metalhead look when we first met. we started chatting, and she asked what my nickname was. I, for some goddamned reason, told her it was Lucifer, Lord of Darkness. somehow we ended up rolling on a bed this same evening, and dated for two years, until we broke up 2 months ago. now she is an atheist. about damn time too, she was majoring in physics with me.

Re: The Debate Derail Thread

absolutely nothing remotely amusing happened but i'm still going to post about my day
Spoiler: show
6:20 AM: i wake up after a decentish night's sleep, still have a cold though it isn't bad anymore. my alarm is set for 7 AM, so i lie back down. i remember i get irrationally angry at sudden noises like alarm clocks and decide 40 more minutes of sleep isn't worth being suddenly woken by that evil thing
7:AM: i tell a friend of mine on facebook i'm still ill, so there's a good chance of me contaminating the cell cultures of this postdoc i hate, he wishes me good luck
7:30 AM: i leave the house
8:45 AM: i arrive at the lab

9:00 AM: got an email from said postdoc that she isn't coming in till the afternoon. go to take care of my cell cultures, wearing a mask so i don't infect them. feel like everyone is silently judging me for trying to look like a cool scientist(™). i have a cold and i don't want to get pathogens on it, assholes. apropos cold, i took a sick day yesterday and everyone of you fucks knows this so how about asking me if i feel better. a "nice haircut" wouldn't hurt either

1 PM: got a decent amount of work done. eat lunch in near-silence with some collegues. the food is shit. two of them are talking at the door afterwards, i hear my name, i ask what's up and after the second time i ask they finally inform me about what's up (nothing really is, though)

3 PM: post-doc i hate is here and she's apparently in a really good mood. at least her experiments aren't going well but if she isn't sad about it, that doesn't really make me happy. we do an experiment together. at least she asks me if i'm feeling better (post-doc i maybe don't really hate?)

5:30 PM: there's some waiting time near the end of the experiment, post-doc tells me she'll call me when it's time to continue, i go to the office and wait there like an idiot while reading wikipedia articles (chloroform -> solvent abuse -> ether -> something -> something -> protein folding disease -> tau disease -> alzheimers' disease; lion's mane mushroom by a deliberate search, none of which except chloroform have anything to do with my work).

6:20 PM: go back to the lab and it turns out she didn't bother to call me and finished the experiment. she tells me to go home and get well (nope, still hate her). i get on the bus with this doctoral student i get along with ok. she makes some passive-aggressive comment about me watching out so i don't infect her, we talk about our work, she goes on and on about how i'm inexperienced after i make a self-deprecating comment about my being inexperienced, so i guess she's now the doctoral student i also hate

7 PMish? need to take a diversion to show some bureaucratic assholes in an office my train ticket, so i don't need to pay the full fine for forgetting it last week. some girl asks me if i know the way to her stop, i don't, we both ask some guy how to get to our respective stops, she laughs (this isn't a funny situation, right?), i say "i guess this is the consequence of always taking the underground" (this is a regular train which is why i don't know the way), she says, in the most stereotypically ditzy voice i have ever heard in my whole life (she didn't sound like this before) "haha, yes, and it's all so big so i never know where to go" (what). decide i don't need to continue this conversation since she's getting out on the next stop. she gets out and says "bye!" very friendlily - i hope that's a word - so i feel kind of guilty for approx. 10 seconds. wonder how much i can insult bureaucrats without getting that criminal charge about insulting government employees. am very friendly to bureaucrats when i get there. continue on my way home

7:30 PM: i go to the supermarket on the way home, buy 2 microwavable hotdogs on sale due to their expiration date, 2 bags of crisps on sale for whatever reason, some cheap shower gel and a cheap bottle of red wine (but not the cheapest, i buy the cheapest bottle that still has an unusual bottle shape). standing in line i realise this is probably the saddest purchase i've ever made. less people are judging me now than when i was wearing the face mask this morning though, which i think is rather strange

8:29 PM: eating cold leftover chinese food, wondering which tv show to watch, posting this self-pitying crap

8:29 PM: eating cold leftover chinese food, wondering which tv show to watch, posting this self-pitying crap

you should do something fun, like a sport
take it easy

lots of stuff

post your dump in code tags, please.
edit: oh, I remembered another funny story: I'm a pretty big fan of Worm, the webserial, and was reading a discussion thread on reddit about it. in the middle of the discussion, I see a guy post a rather strange opinion about Jack Slash and Contessa, and so, as a good redditor, I politely ask him: "sources?".
he answers: "source, am author."
and yeah, he was.
tried to make it look like I was joking but I dont really think it worked.
now I think he hates me.
I'm not very good with "celebrities." everytime I talk to someone I admire I act like a fucking idiot.
my posts are to be read in a mildly playful tone, with a deep, sexy voice.
