spell idea: instability

Instability - level 5 translocations spell
Create warps and ripples in the nearby fabric of space, making it hard to predict where your feet will land.
Instability creates an "unstable" status. While the status is in effect, whenever a monster in LOS moves, it has a chance to stumble instead (move in a random direction) as if confused. This chance increases with spellpower, ranging from 30% to a cap of 80% at 200 spellpower, and does not apply if the monster is instead attacking while stationary. The effect applies to the player as well, but for the player, stumble chance is halved.

This would be a useful spell when around lava or deep water, since it could cause monsters to fall into it and die. It also makes it easier to outrun enemies and helps avoid getting surrounded.

Seems a bit too close to mass confusion. Which is also better since enemies can't cast spells.

Pretty cool idea but I think it overlaps too much with mass confusion (as bel points out), metabolic englaciation, and Leda's liquefaction.

Also, it sounds a lot like TeleSelf.

EDIT: Oops, I mistook this new "unstable" status for "slightly unstable". Never mind me.

"Chance to Blink" instead of "Chance to Move in a Random Direction" would be pretty powerful.

That would sound like Disjunction. The main purpose as originally stated would be to have them fall into deadly terrain (lava/deep water) or bump into and attack each other. But as others mentioned, it would probably be too similar to mass confusion (albeit irresistible and without some of the other effects of confusion).
