Posted: Thursday, 8th January 2015, 02:53I play in whatever way enables me to win quickly and get on with my life. This often just amounts to otab until my rc stops me, then use a consumable to escape. It's worked remarkably well for me so far.

To be fair this was also back in the days of item dest so it's probably much easier now.

Posted: Thursday, 8th January 2015, 09:59Without having the faintest idea of what "optimal" play is, I could not practice it even if I wanted to. Generally, when I play I aim for entertainment, funnies, mental stimulation via tactical and strategic gameplay, and perhaps to obtain a win in the process. Sometimes, I just play like an insane moron, and have a great deal of fun doing so.

Posted: Thursday, 8th January 2015, 10:37I guess if we're talking in speedrun terms then I'm getting close to playing optimally, but if we're talking in the general winrate optimality terms then I'm intentionally playing very suboptimally.
Mostly because playing optimally for winrate would be making an already boring game (the time where I liked crawl is long gone) much more boring.

I sure miss the days where the game wasn't this easy for me, but that's just how it goes.
