An ogre...

on a OgWz that netted him enough EXP to go up two levels and a giant club :D
You see here a dire elephant corpse.
You start butchering the dire elephant corpse with your claws.
You continue butchering the corpse.
You are engulfed in roaring flames. You stop butchering the corpse.
You die...

Boots of running, a cloak, a buckler, and a ring of +3 int, all on D:1. Of course, I died to an orc with a whip of electrocution on D:4 when I decided "oh, he just has a whip, I can surely take him on in melee even if i'm already down to half health."

My best finds were a +0+8 ring of slaying and a +2,+3 mace of protection on the same MdFi. Contrary to how these things usually end, he didn't die early. Still my best run, he got to lv 23, and died to a pack of draconians on D:23. I had 3 runes too. First time ever. Oh, well, there's always another run!

Nope, I got a Mace of Distortion on another early character recently too. I was starving and needed to eat, so was forced to unwield. I expected death, but was pleasantly surprised with zero ill-effects. I think that was the first time that had ever happened to me.

Then I YASDed two floors later, of course.

I don't really remember which character this was on, but I found one of those glass vaults with a moth of wrath in it. Behind the small square vault was a rod. Wielded it and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was a poison rod... Two smite-targeted poison clouds later: Moth dead, got from level 3 to 8. Unfortunately I splatted.

Well it seems that when you type in this thread, you are bound to find something good next time you run crawl. I decided to roll a human cause of fast xp and no aptitude minuses and this is what I get at D:1. Good job RNG! (In case you're wondering, that's a Swamp Dragon Armor) Oh well, let's see what tragic end this character is going to meet.

P.S: Btw tell me if I'm crazy, but I think that the first time you launch crawl after downloading a newer version, you seem to get awesome items. Has happened a lot to me. I just got this build. :o

P.S2: My cursed cloak prevents me from wearing it. :P

Yeah, ok. After finding 4 mutation potions and trying out my luck I got about 6-7 bad mutations and only +1 str and res cold++. Then Grinder raped me at floor 3. :(

Well this is on D2 yet it's crazy enough. So, after a bunch of more Typical Swordsman Slaughtering, i said well let's begin with short blades then work with long blades later on. And this is what I get. Shitty brand though. Or should I train throwing? :P

Re: Good finds on D:1

I found a -glowing- gold dragon armor AND a naga barding in a mini-vault on D:3, one tile away from each other. Sure, not quite D:1, but the barding too? I was in fact playing a naga. The funny part is since I had 18 str and I wanted to ID the armor, I wore both and ended up with -12 EV. The GDA turned out to be -1 cursed, but I had remove curse, took it off, and wore a +2 plate I found also on D:3.

As expected, this character died quickly.

Pretty sure that this unrand should be nerfed.
