So I decided to take a break from doing zigs and play a chaos knight for fun. My chaos knights keep randomly dying while resting though:

This has happened with my muck, my ceck, and now my spck. Each time I was at nearly max HP. I get that Xom is supposed to be a challenge god but instantly killing you while at nearly full health is just unfair.

In practice xom getting bored doesn't change jack tbh.

I think this thread would be better served with a short list of what entertains Xom and what does not entertain Xom.

Well, there are players who are interested in low turncount (like me e.g.) and there are other players who prefer other things (like snow e.g.). However, Xom likes speedrunners.

This turncount is especially interesting when you compare it to PurpleRed's recent ultra speedrun, his VSBe with 15 runes in 21.9 k turns. Alright, we know the risks PurpleRed takes and the price he is paying for it (low win percentage). But look at this:

Xom doesn't like speedrunners and he certainly doesn't like to be entertained as some have suggested, what he likes is that one plays like a normal person and ignores his existence until he acts.
Not that I see any reason one would compare a joke death in D: 1 for laughs to a guy speedrunning.

If you have some way to repeatedly and without harming your character amuse Xom it actually does make a noticeable difference in the end, which really is unfortunate since it means the only actual effect of Xom getting bored is it encourages you to do said action repeatedly. In some cases (lightning spire hitting itself with lightning) this is unobtrusive, but in others (hitting yourself with shock) it is less so.

Other than the cases where you can game the system like above there's no reason to ever care about Xom getting bored though. (Really the whole mechanic should be removed.)
