Xom's Abyss is too cruel

Are there any plans to make Xom less cruel? The game was definately fun except it is not fun to lose a promising character to unavoidable death.

yes, in pizza tornado he gives pepperoni mutations which is sorta like a buff and less cruel than current form

My point is all other Xom problems are relatively easy to solve:
1) Hostile summons - single blink and/or teleport
2) Swap weapon - use backup weapon
3) Bad mutations - use stasis, quaff cure mutation, just wait for another Xom action to remove it
4) Inner Flame - run
5) Polymorph/haste enemy - just run or use blink/teleport if really needed
And only Banishment can make you spend several teleportation/blink/haste etc. consumables and still die unavoidably.

All miscast effects are possible, so he can also kill you directly, paralyze, petrify, stat drain below zero and other things.

Thank you, I forgot about those. I wonder when paralysis will be removed, it's in the one league with paralysis from Zot traps IMHO.
Petrify can be stopped if lucky with scroll of cancellation, direct damage is extremely bad early game (I recall there was a thread about dead MuCK recently)

Maybe Xom should randomly remove you from the Abyss or create Abyss exits?

Why not let Xom create exits from the Abyss in, say, Snake?

Or stairways from Abyss:2 to Orc:3 or wherever?

Xom's Abyss.....

how about he just makes a special Abyss with nothing but neutral Killer Klowns. If they bump into each other, they turn hostile, berserked, and confused.

He can instantly unbanish you if you get banished by something other than Xom himself
