Ru sacrifice challenge

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Re: Ru sacrifice challenge

Additional caveat: Ru has to run out of sacrifices to give you, before you step out of Dungeon/Orc/Lair.

My guess is that Centaurs would be least affected by the whole repertoire of sacrifices Ru offers.

Focus on throwing for damage. Worship Oka for javelin gifts and precious skill boosts to untrainable skills.

Although, a different god might be more fitting, depending on what you find the dungeon. If you're lucky, maybe you'll barely notice the handicap!

Re: Ru sacrifice challenge

I think the challenge should include "you cannot reject sacrifices".

Re: Ru sacrifice challenge

Yeah; otherwise the challenge becomes "build an awesome character before getting serious about saccing everything."

Re: Ru sacrifice challenge

Also I am not sure if Ru can wait indefinitely before you accept its offer, so probably it should be appended with "Choose a sacrifice on the same turn when you got the offer".

Re: Ru sacrifice challenge

The "renounce religion as many times as possible" part is vague. So after abandoning, you have to rejoin, and keep saccing? When do stop saccing? I mean, you'll probably be dead with a second set of sacrifices, but assuming you could survive. Is there a way to tell you've run out of sacrifices?

Re: Ru sacrifice challenge

If you run out of sacrifices, Ru will stop offering sacrifices; technically you can never get a full set, since Ru stops once only two possible sacrifices remain.

Yeah I think that's the idea. OP even assumes you're gonna die.

So if you're dead-set on leaving 2 sacrifices unaccepted, it's easy to do with this challenge - just never accept those 2 sacrifices. That's nice. Keep hand and resistance, I guess.

You will be able to train only weapons and fighting as far as I understand. Probably unarmed/M&F Tr/Og will be the easiest.

Re: Ru sacrifice challenge

Which two sacrifices give the least piety? Those should be the ones you aren't allowed to accept.

As far as I know you can train throwing. Again good for Og/Tr.

You can still be a spellcaster. You just can't cast from the three schools you choose to sacrifice, like hexes/conj/poison or something. I still think Ce is easier.

I assumed that eventually you can sacrifice all magic schools.

I also assumed that eventually you can sacrifice a second hand, disabling weapon and UC training, but nope! :(

FR: Ru proposes to sacrifice both hands at first offer, gives max piety instantly.
You cannot use melee/ranged/Evo.
This is what I'd call pure caster ;)

Re: Ru sacrifice challenge

Could you imagine sacrificing resistance on a felid? You'd literally have to use both your ring slots to get those back...
I'm beginning to feel like a Cat God! Felid streaks: {FeVM^Sif Muna, FeWn^Dithmenos, FeAr^Pakellas}, {FeEE^Ashenzari, FeEn^Gozag, FeNe^Sif Muna, FeAE^Vehumet...(ongoing)}

Sacrifice both eyes...now all monsters are invisible. You still know where the walls are by sense of hearing and touch.

Re: Ru sacrifice challenge

"This is a what-the-hell-are-you-doing-you-moron sacrifice. Continue? [Y]/[N]"

Sacrifice legs/tail...now you can't wear boots/barding, and movement takes 4 times as long. Octopodes lose 6 ring slots.

Sacrifice power...now you can't invoke Ru's active abilities. Aura of power is strengthened due to piety gain.

Sacrifice tongue...you are permanently silenced.

^ would be wildly inaccurate, though.

Sacrifice caution...applies -Tele and mesmerization when monsters are in LOS.

Felids have innate rC from level 12 onwards, so they only need a ring of protection from fire to get back to neutral!

Yeah, Felid is definitely a great idea for this challenge!

They'd need to put it on their only remaining paw to get back to neutral, effectively disabling ring-wearing if you want to stay neutral (artifacts/mutations excepted)
