Triple portal floors are a thing now

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Triple portal floors are a thing now

How ironic I would get them all on one floor. I wasn't aware I worshipped Xom this game. I know I saw this in another post, the dungeon must be up to something lately.

(hopefully HTML tags work)

And hello again to the Tavern! I had an account but amnesia'd the password.

UPDATE: Entered the ice cave and the other portals timed out while inside. Is that intended?

Re: Triple portal floors are a thing now

You have 600-900 turns, depending on the timed portal type. It's theoretically doable to get all three, but you'd need everything to fall into place perfectly with level generation, and the third portal you hit would be the only one that could be one of the larger maps. I'd probably try the Labyrinth first, assuming I can easily run by any monsters in the way. No resting required, which is where most of your turns get eaten up. The Bailey and the Ice Cavern are more of a coin toss depending on whether you get a big map or a little one.

Labs also generally have pretty damn great loot.

I think that was more true prior to .15. I haven't seen a worthwhile Lab since .14. Every single one I've found in .15 has been completely unsuitable lootwise. I have assumed this is just as intended.

Could be a streak of bad luck - I don't remember a commit about decreasing Lab loot quality.

I may have a general bad luck experience (items wise) with the game. I rarely find (useful) artifacts nor the better (ego or just magical) items until I have gotten 2 runes at least. I have seen a few early lucky finds but for the most part not much at all. But I have found moderately useful loot in Ice Caverns, Volcanos, and other vaults so not sure why Labs have been so pitiful. Just that this started after I downloaded a .15 version.

You rarely find useful artefacts because almost all artefacts in crawl are useless.

My experience is that volcano loot is usually terrible unless you need a robe or ring mail of rF+ or a flaming weapon of a base type you don't use.

Once in a while, you get rF+ gloves, which are quite good.
