Lair 8 junk?

I have noticed recently since playing trunk 15a.etc that Lair 8 contains nothing whatsoever of interest. Has this been done with the eye towards eliminating it entirely? No vault, no dangerous foes, no interesting items, just a slog of all the usual suspects is all I've found there. I am curious about the state of Lair so would love an authoritative and correct answer.

I haven't heard anything. Maybe you just happened to draw one of the less garish Lair endings? Some of them don't contain or don't always contain monsters from outside the normal Lair set, and it is possible to blow the loot roll on treasures located anywhere in the game. Maybe that pile of 13 stones was your big prize. If you post a screenshot, we can compare it to the .des file without trouble.

Im not entirely sure about it but from what I know is that lair:8 never guaranteed good loot

This is what happened. Lair endings still exist and spawn each game, it's just some Lair endings can be hard to notice. I've cleared Lair: 8 multiple times and only realized I cleared the branch when I couldn't find a staircase.

I got a vanilla CPA last time I was in lair 8. I was pretty happy about it. But yeah, a lot of the time it's like "Oh, I guess I'm done with lair". Once in a while it's "Oh god dragon stop killing me"
