Wait, this is actually in trunk now? !!?!?! ???!??? !!!!!!!
No more corrosion, no more item destruction, soon to be no more item weight... yes sir, it's a good day to be a crawler. Of course you'll still die, but your stuff will be immaculate and shiny for the next guy!

I clicked on about 3 of those links before I realized they were all identical. That was a dirty trick. At first I thought the summary text up top was just being repeated, then I realized that the code changes were in fact identical, and then that the URL's were identical.

It's been a slow morning.

The amulet of conservation and cloaks of preservation are no longer necessary without item destruction.

Cloaks of preservation aren't entirely useless, they still provide acid/corrosion resistance. Whether that alone merits them staying in the game is debatable, of course.

I just updated 2 or 3 days ago, and my Chei character did get burdened, so weight was still in as of my last update. I was thrilled when I found out about the new corrosion mechanics.

How did I get burdened with 39 str? Mind your own damn business, that's how(and I had no large rocks either). Lets just say I was playing as if item destruction had already been removed...

Guys it's a trap. They do this every version: make an improvement that is SO good you can't imagine going back to the previous stable version (see: nausea, summoning change, etc.). Then once they have you hooked, they remove something you cherish and stomp it into the dust!

Oh wait, they already removed snozzcumbers so I suppose we're safe. Phew.

Wait cheese has been removed? Well... that's practically the only reason I ever got burdened anyway, from lugging around too much cheese. That's it, I'm demanding a refund. Pay up devs, I want my $0.00 back, because you stole my cheese.

Re: ITEM DESTRUCTION IS DEAD

Getting rid of item weight and item destruction cant be a good move. It was annoying indeed having scrolls burned and potions pop, but it added a level of strategy. This makes the game easier now having countless haste/might/etc pots that can be used whenever instead of being wary of using them except in most dangerous positions. This also makes casters more powerful not having to worry about putting points in STR for item weight. Whats next? Doubling the amount healed from Heal wounds?

that's why the number of potions you can use is limited to the number that you have found, which is generally not "countless"

And if it's deemed that there are too many consumables available now, you can just make less of them appear on the floor. Voila.

Re: ITEM DESTRUCTION IS DEAD

yes i agree shizmoo

dropping your scrolls before that mottled dragon made your scrolls vapourize added a whole new level of strategy to the game
as did dropping all your scrolls before entering a volcano
or the same for potions and ice caves

damn, so strategic
rip item destruction we'll miss you!

Suggestion for the devs: pre-emptively deal with the people who will complain that "crawl is getting too easy", by adding back mountain dwarves and then removing them again

It's not really a strawman - I saw someone argue in ##crawl that taking out item destruction and weights is removing a huge part of crawl's strategy
