I prefer increasingly passive aggressive discussions to polls.

I'm not even being sarcastic.

Polls only serve to polarize design discussions. But if we had bipolar Poles on polar bears, that might help.

I think we should use more poles in our design, and they should be designed by Poles.

From what I've seen, the opinion of the average forum poster (myself included) is rather worthless when it comes to making an important design decision, so I say "No Polls!!"

"Fewer polls" not "less polls"

It's my impression that zero polls are currently used in GDD; so I'm rather confused by the less polls option. Are we counting CYC polls?

I'll go further: the message I've picked (from explicit statements by dpeg) is that most devs don't read the Tavern and those who do largely ignore what they see there. I therefore take this thread to be a form of trolling.

Using Les Pauls for design seems like a great idea!

I'm sorry, I can't tell if you're kidding. I think Grunt was making a joke, sure, but "trolling" takes it a little far, no? dpeg posts pretty often, after all, and I've watched dozens of proposals go straight from GDD into the game, maybe with a pitstop at ##crawl-dev. I mean, Grunt workshopped his new god here, for example.

The Tavern has its share of forum difficulties. It's only natural; I'd love to see an online discussion forum that was 100% free of all kinds of disruptive nonsense. But the long arc of crawlhistory bends toward crawljustice, in Tavern as well as everywhere else.

But polls are silly and I've never seen the attraction of them as a common forum feature.

10' polls are great for detecting traps but they took most of those out of the game.
