Realtime Mode!

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Realtime Mode!

1.0 turn=1 sec.

If you don't press any key, random command will excuted.

Re: Realtime Mode!

I can't eat a ration in 4 seconds. Unrealistic.

Re: Realtime Mode!

I doubt that anyone is seriously considering this, but if so: skipping the turn (like pressing s) sounds like a much more reasonable result of missing the timer. And the timer would ideally be adjustable as an option (perhaps in rcfile or something), with 9 seconds probably suitable as the default.

Re: Realtime Mode!

1 sec = 1 turn is a horrible model to use

Every space in the dungeon is large enough to accommodate a dragon or a titan, so in order for the player character to move between spaces in 1 second, he would at the very least need to be moving at a full sprint at all times.

Doors are large enough for titans and dragons to fit through, so there is no friggin' way they are opening and closing in 1 second.

Also no one would ever ever play this just because resting would make it unendurably boring.

A mouse cannot eat a ration in 4 seconds either.

Re: Realtime Mode!

Nice idea indeed! This reminds me of those old action roguelikes Telengard and Sword of Fargoal, where you would also miss a turn after a certain amount of time has passed without keystrokes.

There's an upcoming game called Crypt of the NecroDancer which is basically built around this idea... DDR-pad compatible lol.

I assumed that taking an action would just end the turn, so the game would play as normal except with a turn timer (in which case, o and 5 and such would make many turns happen instantaneously like normal).
