Jewelry/Artifact Behavior

Simple proposal.
  • For most buffs evokable from jewelry and artifacts make */+ the standard.
  • Allow evocations to slowly cancel the * portion.
In other words;
Rage, Tele, Invisibility and Flight will all trigger randomly. As you become more capable of evoking at will; they will not trigger randomly as much...until at 0% fail rate for willful evoke, they won't trigger randomly at all, anymore. This effect extends to artifact unique effects (such as Cloak of the Thief's +Fog).
I'm beginning to feel like a Cat God! Felid streaks: {FeVM^Sif Muna, FeWn^Dithmenos, FeAr^Pakellas}, {FeEE^Ashenzari, FeEn^Gozag, FeNe^Sif Muna, FeAE^Vehumet...(ongoing)}

interesting, but why?

*effect is usually a bad thing, since it happens randomly and (sometimes) at the most inopportune times, no matter what you do. along with the -stat or -resistance attributes, its supposed to balance out the possibilities of obtaining good attributes on your randarts. what you're proposing eventually makes the * obsolete. they're not supposed to be obsolete without some kind of downside (eg. wear amulet of stasis to cancel out *tele, *berserk), investing experience into evocations doesn't really count
