If you play webtiles then you can encounter the ghosts of other players. So it could be a player ghost that knows both lightning bolt and invisibility, such as a SpEn who decided to branch out into air magic/conjurations.

Re: Invisible monster throwing lightning bolts

While that's true, the fact that he specified "from a webtiles player" means it's a joke about the quality of players who play webtiles, and he isn't seriously suggesting it was a player ghost. You would have noticed the ghost come into view and then turn invisible, anyways.

It is a vapor, as already correctly answered.

CSZO is the cool place to hang out. You can find most of the cool people there. In CSZO you can just chill and do whatever and totally relax. "Take it easy" is the CSZO motto, for example, that's how laid back it is there. Show up if you want to have a good time. Another good reason to show up is if you want to hang out with friends.

Yes, that is the whole reason for the 'hate'.

I'm finding it hard to argue just at this moment, given that apparently a SpEn casting Lightning Bolt wasn't silly enough to clue you in to the joke.

And it could be also any intelligent monster with potion of invisibility and wand of lightning... Come on, this is useless answer. Weren't the question and first answer clear enough to pass on the opportunity to post more? I suggest to keep DCA clear and move crazy talking to where it belongs - cyc.

I completely understand that SpEn's hate noise and lightning bolt makes noise. You can't account for the stupidity of others though - a player might do it. It isn't possible for them to cast invis while out of LOS, so that's why I mentioned that one instead. Everyone just wants to assume the worst, rather than give me the benefit of the doubt, sheesh. Next time I'll be sure to mention all problems so that you don't insult me for only mentioning 2 of the 3 ridiculous things :)

Google wasn't a lot of help there. Duvessa is the purebreed name of a therapy dog Terrier, and also apparently a hair weave product. No references to Golden Retrievers were forthcoming. So my surmise is this is an inside joke complete with cryptic references.

I should mention that the "golden retriever sitting at a keyboard with a smile" is a phrase from an article on dogs and cats on the web called Dogweb and Catweb. Again didn't seem to make a lot of sense to me except in the most obtuse way: Perhaps condescension is a Catweb trait...but in that case why would the reference be to the Dogweb personified?

Re: Invisible monster throwing lightning bolts

Suddenly, an on-topic post:
  Code:
Remove vapour monsters

Always confused, permanently invisible monsters that only know how to check your electricity resistance are not very fun to fight. For vaults, I've replaced many instances of vapours with wind drakes where the "air" is the theme, replaced a couple instances with lightning spires where the theme was electricity or with thorn hunters if the theme is merely swamp. Other instances have been outright removed. For the cloud mage wizlab, I've replaced vapours with wind drakes but have down-weighted them relative to air elementals and insubstantial wisps.

For the foxfire card, I've moved vampire mosquitos into the position where vapours were, put insubstantial wisps as lower-power summons behind fireflies, since the latter got a buff some time ago, and added killer bees in between insubstantial wisps and fireflies to keep the number of summon types the same.

Nah, I'm one of those butthurt fellows.
Plus, even if I didn't play MD, their existence didn't harm me any. Same thing with Dj. Sure, they were a nexus of terrible design decisions, but I don't have to play one, so who cares?
Meanwhile, Hive, Victory Dancing, and Vapors showed up in almost every game. (1 out of every 2 games in the case of Vapors, but close enough.)

Re: Invisible monster throwing lightning bolts

if you keep things that are no good, but cause no harm, soon you will have 300 species. 280 of them awful. this will make the game an awful game.
but seriously, there is a limit to how many species there can be. and it is a good thing they are not filled with Dj and MD, for example.

I am of the opinion that if some people like the race, it's better to either fix the race or leave it alone, because it makes them happy and doesn't have a negative effect on anyone else. Fortunately, no-one liked Dj, so that doesn't create much of a problem.

Re: Invisible monster throwing lightning bolts

TBH I thought vapours were pretty funny to encounter for the first time - a monster you can't see and can't reliably hit that occasionally shocks you. I think first time I found one (or rather a bunch of them) I was a HOPr and I got that green crystal vault with a bunch of vapours and fog (and wizards, IIRC). They killed like half of my army before I realized what's going on, that was pretty intense.

I'm mostly neutral on MD.

Re: Invisible monster throwing lightning bolts

The problem is something that is funny once becomes annoying the second time, and if something kills you in a Permadeath game it's probably not even funny the first time. I Wanna Be the Guy is a platformer filled with stuff like that vault, but it has save points every single screen so you don't lose five hours of progress because someone thought having the moon fall on you would be funny.

Well vapours weren't quite as killy, they were mostly flying around zapping stuff. By the time you were on vapour depth you could probably survive a couple of zaps and figure out something.
