Time Demon?

So I was thinking about the idea of a Cheibriados unique and the more I thought about it; I thought it would be more interesting to have a tier 2 demon that punishes you for haste (or being a Spriggan); as there currently aren't any drawbacks to using that anywhere in the game. Probably would place in Abyss and Hell. Semi-Rare both places. Avoidable in the former. Also can be summoned by both player and enemy 'Summon Greater Demon'. Would be the only -slower than average- demon as well.

time demon (2) | Spd: 6 | HD:17 | HP: 105-149 | AC/EV: 11/10 | Dam: 40 | demonic, doors, see invisible, lev, regen, !sil | Res: magic(98), elec, rot, neg+++, torm | Vul: holy++ | XP: 1933 | Sp: b.time (3d10), slow, blink close, dig esc: Time.Travel | Sz: Large | Int: high.

Bolt of Time - Beam targeted slouch. Ignores AC; uses your move speed/its move speed as your resistance. Average speed characters take (1.6 x 3d10) [similar to Hellfire]; hasted characters take (2.5 x 3d10) [Brutal]. If you are slower than it (affected by its slow or use slowing on yourself) it does no damage; but this guy isn't to be trifled with in melee either.
Time Travel - Enemy version of Step from time; after 1d5 turns; {foo} disappears for 5d10 turns and returns in the same place with no healing. You can wait it out if you want the XP/to be sure it is dead or just keep on your way. Effectively it's a similar escape spell to Tele Self.
I'm beginning to feel like a Cat God! Felid streaks: {FeVM^Sif Muna, FeWn^Dithmenos, FeAr^Pakellas}, {FeEE^Ashenzari, FeEn^Gozag, FeNe^Sif Muna, FeAE^Vehumet...(ongoing)}

Re: Time Demon?

An enemy that deals bonus damage to faster-moving characters sounds interesting. Not sure if Time Travel is worth keeping, though. My impression is that monsters who run away are generally considered really annoying and not that interesting.

time demon (2) | Spd: 6

Dam: 40

Executioner (1) | Spd: 20 | HD: 12 | HP: 50-83 | AC/EV: 10/15 | Dam: 30, 10, 10 | Sp: pain (d14), haste

By the time you're usually meeting executioners, they're usually pretty tame - and this guy is a joke in melee compared to even them.

I don't have complaints about the overall theme - other than the 1.6x multiplier applied to 3d10 for normal-speed characters being silly when you could just do 3d16*(1 + (10-MoveSpeedInAut)/10)

What do you think is a better dam then? I will say a lot of why executioners are harmless is anyone with decent AC will take 0-2 dam each from the 10's so only the 30 is notable. As of right now; the highest (normal) enemy is Titans at 55 and the highest enemy is Antaeus at 75, 30 (cold). Added effect can be bigger deal than (plain) portion at this point in the game though.

Re: Time Demon?

Unless you raise their speed, any amount of dam will make them A Huge Chump in melee. In my opinion you should just forget about making them good in melee at all.

Re: Time Demon?

give it blink other close. this will make it a good threat, probably.

Re: Time Demon?

Maybe base it on what your move speed would be rather than just whether you're hasted or not?

If you want this...
Go play angband.
You'll have to settle for Time Hounds and Vortexes, though. :D
