Does having four arms enhance a formicid's unarmed combat?

IMO remove the reference to four arms already. All it does is confusing people into thinking dwants should wear 2 sets of gauntlets, 4 rings etc.

Just say something about how their insect arms are unusually strong.

If I was your DM I would say "No. If the arms are too inept to do anything but wield shields then they are too inept for that too." Surely there is a better explanation rp-wise? "The mishappen claws of their middle limbs are not conducive for fighting, nor wielding most objects though a shield can be fitted (somewhat awkwardly) over them.)"

I'm more of a "Parent's just don't understand" kinda guy.

That having been said, thanks everyone for hijacking this thread into uselessness.

There is an actual issue here, and something should be done if for nothing else, than to prevent future misconceptions.
