I didn't know where to put this thread, so CYC.

I'm not a complete newbie by any means so i know potions of experience are pretty rare, and in my experience, ive never gotten more than 1 per game (all still on rare occasions). Furthermore, Baileys have never given me much to offer other than a nice manual really.

How then did i come across a bailey vault that offered me 3 potions of experience, a potion of beneficial mutation, and a scroll of acquirement? I hardly even had to work for it. it was in straight five chamber layout, and each room just had like 10 to 15 orcs and orc warriors. the final room had 2 orc knights. i was never even threatened. Now i have 4 potions of experience (i found one earlier in lair). Time for me to finally win a game I guess, as long as im careful.

If you're implying you didn't quaff those potions yet you really should've quaffed them the moment you laid hands on them.

Is that generally the way to go with them? I wasn't planning on hoarding it away forever, but at the same time, it gives you a full level of XP, so its effectively more powerful later, no? The general consensus is there is too much xp available anyways. So if you live, you'll max out at 27 sooner than later anyways. If you can hop up 4 levels right now, that gives your character a sweet advantage 99%+ characters don't get, and help you keep living now. Because Mennas could be around the corner!

Consumables are meant to be used.

P.S: Don't get overconfident. The game tricks you into thinking everything is popcorn, then slams you with something crazy.
P.S.S: I'm very envious of you and your 4 potions of experience.

Baileys are weird because some have almost entirely worthless loot and some have insanely good loot. Depends on the layout.

I got 3 !exp, 3 EWIII, 3 EWII, 2 EWI, !benemut, and some other assorted cmut, haste, blink, etc from a bailey the other day. Needless to say, I won that game.

The thing you really care about with !exp is the immediate boost to your skills. Since low-level skills are cheaper to increase, and since an extra few 750s don't make that much difference in the long run, the Skill Points are almost always worth more now than they will be later.

The immediate boost to your survival is so utterly massive (a d2 xp potion can instantly jump your starting weapon to minimum delay, for example) that any longterm cost isn't really worth thinking about. Higher levels are worth less generally anyway; when your XL is very low, increasing it is a big deal, but when your XL is already at like 25, you pretty much don't care about it anymore, except that it looks nice to have a bigger number.

I think sewers used to sometimes give out 7 experience potions

It's actually dramatically less powerful later because of skill costs increasing.

I just want it to be like last week. those where the times. you could enter a bailey and find 3 pots of experience, and be happy.
