Getting the sound mod to work - help please :)

Hello everyone! I am trying to get the sound mod ( files from : viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6440 ) to work but have been having no luck by myself.

I would deeply appreciate anyone's help here on getting sounds to run properly... for me at least, it makes playing DCSS more enjoyable.

Thank you!

Perhaps a dev could speak out whether the sound code has changed at all and why it might not be working?

A few devs (galehar?) have spoken of the sound code as if it works. I haven't yet seen any evidence of someone actually recently using it successfully though.

I assume you are on Windows. I'm running Arch Linux and have the same problem. In theory, you just add mappings textpattern:soundfile to 'sound', as documented in options_guide.txt. In practice, theory is different from practice.

Following the options_guide doesn't work... the currently written sound file is done correctly if one was to correctly follow the options_guide so...

Ok, i'm not sure why this info isn't already available, but looking at the code it seems that sounds are all added together into a bunch instead of whatever was happening previously. So, instead of using "=" when adding sounds, you need to += them. Strange, and i'm not sure why it's so hard to search out this change on the net, but anyways... use this if you want the sound mod to work : http://pastebin.com/42D6Q0yK

Yup.
