My 2014 American Ninja Warrior submission video

In one of the recent topics, it came up that I was on American Ninja Warrior last year and a few of you were fans of the show. I just submitted my video for this years audition, so I figured I'd show you guys. Here it is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBqzSX-aiNk

If you don't know what ANW is, it's a show that's being aired on NBC where contestants from across the country run crazy difficult obstacle courses in hopes that somebody will beat it and win 500,000 bucks. No American has done it yet, but this show originated in Japan and 3 people have beaten it over there. Anyway, this year the video couldn't be longer than 4 minutes. I don't blame them for making that decision, but it was tough to condense everything into that short a time limit. Still, I think it turned out pretty good. Managed to cram a lot of info about myself as well as show off some physical prowess. Plus, a little cheesy humor to keep it interesting. On the plus side, they let us use any music we want this year, as opposed to their limited and generic unlicensed stuff.

After last year, I realized that they mostly just care about your story and background more than they care about your physical ability, so I decided to emphasize my life as a teacher and martial artist a little bit more. I still kept some relevant obstacles in the action shots, demonstrating I can do the salmon ladder, warped wall, quintuple steps, spider climb, etc.

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy it and I hope ANW casting does too. Wish me luck.

I love Crawl @_@

I used to be a really big gamer in general, but lately, the only game I play is Crawl. Aside from the occasional first party Nintendo release.

I posted it on another forum I frequent and it has some trolls. I know specifically who those are from. >_>

Awesome. If you're 21 (minimum age for the show), you should totally do it. We can both make it to the finals in Vegas and meet up for a serious Crawl session.

Hahaha, that made my day. Fortunately for me, there are no Orbs of Fire or Ancient Liches on the obstacle courses. Although, if there were, I'd probably be more prepared to take them down than any of the other contestants...

Awesome. :D Good luck getting on the show and winning it ;)

Could have just had the video be Crawl gameplay. "Yeah, that's Zot:5...the only submission by someone who could reach it."

Haha, my submission video just ends with me eating a Crystal Spear from an Ancient Lich in the Orb Chamber and shouting profanities.

Nahhhh, I don't think ANW needs to know how much I play Crawl or that I'm going to the Born of the Gods prerelease this weekend. >_>

Tons of respect! I like to think I'm in good shape, but I can't even imagine doing half of that stuff. Those hand-clap wall-slap whatever-you-call-it's in the shower stall blew my mind. Good luck!

Re: My 2014 American Ninja Warrior submission video

Grimm, I love it. Thank you, sir.

And I did watch the US vs Japan show. I was also bummed for Japan since they couldn't get it together. It sucks because they didn't have any their home field advantage, but it was nice to see USA represent themselves well. A lot of people that watch both ANW and Sasuke have this sort of Japanese elitism like the Americans just don't hold up to them, but this proved that isn't necessarily true.

Yeah, I used to play as a kid back in 1996 or sometime around then, but I didn't really understand a lot of it. I recently got back into it though sometime around the M14 release.

Re: My 2014 American Ninja Warrior submission video

Well, it's my job to practice martial arts, so I have plenty of time for that. Powerlifting I do 3 times a week for about an hour each time and that isn't much. Parkour and rock climbing are something I get around to a couple of times a month, hopefully.

I went to the Born of the Gods prerelease this weekend. Didn't do too well, though my friend came in first and won 18 packs, so I'm gonna do some drafting with him tomorrow. I met him because I teach him Krav Maga so we've been playing at the school after class on occasion. Even though I didn't do well, I did open a Phenax, God of Deception, plus I traded somebody for a Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker, which finally motivated me to build the standard mill deck I've been wanting to build. Last night I went on Amazon, got some stuff like Traumatize, Tome Scour, Jace and a bunch of other stuff for a hopefully competitive mill deck.

Those *insert heavy swearing here* make you shuffle your greveyard in your library if they are put in the grave, from anywhere. so, no deck end, just put one of those on your sidedeck.
and there is this guy:
http://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/Card/ ... eid=193452
annihilator means every single time this ****** attacks, the defending player must sacrifice 6 pemanents. I have a friend that drops this on turn 4, all costs paid.

Re: My 2014 American Ninja Warrior submission video

yeah, but they absolutely removed any hope for a mill deck to work. it is a perfect counter, that does not even need to be in your game or the field to work, only needs one... and appeared after I spent lots of money on a (in my mind at the time) awesome mill deck. so I hate them.
