Why is experience capped at 20K? In my last game I found myself forced to leave Zot and rest near a goblin because I didn't want the experience I got from a fire orb to be wasted.

Personally I was surprised they didn't cap it at 27k just to keep with the numerological theme.

Well, that's actually a good question. I just asked it on ##crawl-dev, and no one could come up with a reason.

Come to think of it, it doesn't seem to be in line with Crawl philosophy. Punishing the player for staying in the thick of things by reducing the reward is both unfun and an invitation to grinding. Funny how it didn't occur to anyone until now to question that. Though maybe there's an explanation somewhere.

The experience pool limit is no more.

Eh, this should have come before that last winner of mine, when I had 20k XP pool pretty much always after maxing Fighting, Long Blades and Shields *grumble grumble* .

I am almost beginning to enjoy watching the dev process more than actually playing (and constantly losing) the game itself!

My one regret about my last game was not remembering to victory dance Conjurations from 26 to 27 using the 90,000 XP I still had in my pool when I got to the stairs

And +1 on the dev process thing. Playing the game with daily trunk rebuilds while following the discussion is even better, though!
