If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

So that's where baby mimics come from.

Stranger yet, it actually worked. But I think Crawl recognized its silliness, because I can't recreate it. :(

This orc is strangely indecisive.

"Me want Flail. No wait that flail. No, that flail looks better. OHH! Morning star!"
"Crawl is cruel. But we keep coming back to it like an abusive boyfriend. It keeps telling us how it will be different this time by giving us early robes of the archmagi and staves of fire. Then it backhands you with a Centaur on D4." ~Me

If you were worshipping TSO, would you have to sit down and wait for the orc to decide which weapon he wanted to use before continuing? It's a bit mean otherwise.

I believe enemies can wield weapons without taking a turn.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the recent changes to stacking/stashing? On the plus side for the player, you just got the bless/curse status of 3 weapons for free...

Whoever architected this vault deserves a swift kick in the groin. Yes, even if it was a woman.

This was before reaching any of the Lair's branches too. Fortunately the escape hatches turned out to be a relatively safe alternative.

Re: Odd things sighted in dungeon.

I once, playing a HuFi, blundered into a shaft and fell many levels. Just as I escaped up the stairs another HuFi came into sight only to be killed by an arrow. My character was, much later, hit by an orc with a mace of disruption and transported into the path of a centaur warrior who shot me to death. As I tried to flee and the fatal arrow struck, a low-level HuFi came into sight but ran upstairs.

Do you see? The distortion effect not only teleported me but sent me back through time. IT WAS MY OWN DEATH THAT I WITNESSED.

Well consider: how could you have witnessed your own death if you're sitting here now alive, reading and responding to posts. Explain that, if you can.

You could replace "have witnessed" with "be reporting" and make the same query of any YASD post. I propose you take your question there.

*casts Raise on this thread*

What I have to share today isn't so "odd" as it is "exceptionally awesome and well-designed". :) I want to give MAJOR props to the vault designer who thought of THIS:

Image

A Deep Dwarf Beserker Stronghold in the middle of the dungeon, guarded by all sorts of titans and brutes specializing in massive strength and power. :o I sure as hell ain't going in there, but I couldn't pass up Scrying the place to see what it looked like, and boy am I thrilled that I did!

= = =

EDIT:

Within this same game, I stumbled across this:

Image

I think I moseyed on into a bad neighborhood. ;_; I nearly shat myself when I noticed the Ancient Lich in there... and then oh look, Boris is right next door. Wow. Props to whomever thought up this vault too, but you're probably doing ten more years in Purgatory for it because this is unspeakable evil unleashed @_@
