In my defense, the rune mimic vault went in way before I started asking about floor mimics. I'll probably stay away from mimics for a while, I don't want to overuse them.

I actually figured that it was just like a Jerky factory for the dwarves or something, not the scene of a bloody battle, but rather, where the dwarves would bring the unlucky minotaur prey AFTER the battle in order to hang it and dry it into tasty minotaur jerky.

But... I really don't know. after hearing that description, I now think of it more like you just came across the scene of a grizzly battle shortly after it's conclusion.

Well, the name of that vault is evilmike_butcher (or something along those lines), but I think it gets more sinister when you consider that minotaurs are sentient creatures in Crawl.

Along with a lot of everything else you eat in Crawl.

Standard Vaults level, except for this oddity in the corner. I searched with high T&D but nothing turned up. No digging either, it was stone.

I figured it was a http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LethalJokeItem or even just a http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/JokeItem. Quivering a fish, while amusing, is not exactly cool. Cool people quiver rambutans.
