no, this is a thread for figuring out whether or not a sausage between two long bun is a sandwich or not.

But what is the actual definition of a Roguelike? Does food truly fit into the Roguelike concept's intended design in such a way as to meaningfully explore the design space?

This thread is about whether or not hot dogs are sandwiches, not whether or not they belong in roguelikes.

I would say "I'd like a hamburger", though. that stuff is all expected if it's a hamburger without a weird name

nonetheless, you can have specialty hamburgers without tomatos, lettuce, etc., but you cannot have a hamburger without a patty, period. so what defines a hamburger is the bun and patty, tomato and lettuce is expected but not required.

I went to kfc the day the double down was released. I was hyped for weeks I s hit you not...walked the fuck over there because I expected the double breaster to just KO me and make me not OK to drive. responsible... so I pack my bag and walk 1 mile to KFC and guess what, it's not even 6 pm and the fuckers are sold out. which mfer even planned this product release. I don't have to tell you how destructive it is to one's day to be so #@^ hype and then...well just pure let down I guess.

so I walked back the f over there 2 days later and damn that was a good hot dog

While I cannot devote the true time and attention to this thread that it so rightfully deserve, I would like to add an overlooked criteria to the determination of if something is a sandwich: the bread must be intended to be gripped such that you eat the sandwich with your hands. This rules out cakes as "frosting sandwiches" because they are generally also frosted on the top and sides, meaning that you cannot pick them up with your hands cleanly. It is theoretically possible that you could make a cake which only contained frosting on the inside and not around the sides in order to call it a sandwich, which I could begrudgingly agree with, but the traditional, fully frosted cake is in no way a sandwich.

There is a very small amount of wiggle room on this - for example the grilled cheese sandwich will butter both sides of the bread, which can make the bread somewhat oily, but it is still very much intended that you hold the sandwich by the bread, so it is a sandwich.

You know, if you say "sandwich" enough times aloud, it stops sounding like a word, and if you read it enough times, it looks like it's spelled incorrectly

I am of the opinion that "hotdog sandwich" implies something like this:

and not the standard bun style in which a hotdog should be eaten. However, I will be fairly lenient with good people (good people being people who don't put ketchup on hotdogs).
