Have Iron Dragons Leave A Spiny Armour

Iron Dragons are one of the few dragons that don't leave an armour. I think it would be cool, if they left a fire/frost dragon level armour, but, instead of elemental attributes, it had spines.

You'd want a pretty high EV penalty on that I think, it's one of the best Ds mutations as far as I can tell.

High ev penalty and spiny 1 seems fair. This armour would reward having a high HP pool but frail defenses with solid retaliation damage. It would especially punish multi-hit enemies like executioners.

by the time you're fighting iron dragons, spiny has pretty much lost its utility

Give them like a 5% chance to drop CPA and call it a day.

Or random fire/ice/pearl/mottled/swamp/shadow dragon scale.

Anyway, considering how rare iron dragons are and how late in the game they appear their hide better be really, really good. Only pearl dragons are less common (and maybe quicksilver ones?).

Quicksilver are fairly common in zot. The main drawback of implementing a iron dragon armor is that is going to be useless in most game unless it spawns early on floor /shop (like gda, pda, etc)

Iron dragons are massive, slow, and tough, plus they show up late enough in the game that any armour they drop has to be a powerful one.

Maybe make them in the mold of FDA/IDA - powerful, but with a drawback. Say, give them higher AC/GDR than even CPA, but give them an innate Ponderous ego (1.0 movement --> 1.1 movement).
