Of all the ideas I've had related to Dwarves; there's only one I think is of merit. This one:
Deep Dwarf Artificer spawns with 5 spells chosen as follows:
1. Random Rod Spell (Cloud Cone, Random Bolt, Thunderbolt, Explosive Bolt, Bolt of Inaccuracy, Weave Shadows, Scattershot)
2. Random High-Tier Conjuration Wand Spell (Fire, Cold, Lighting, Draining)
3. Random Enchantment Wand Spell (Haste, Invisibility, Paralysis, Confusion, Slow, Polymorph)
4. Cantrip, Melee or 'Heal Other'
5. Major Healing
They wear a robe and wield a random low skill weapon (dagger, scimitar, etc.)

Note: They are actually using the spell version of these attacks, not evoking a wand or rod; this is from a practical standpoint to prevent forcing them to run out of charges. Flavoured as them constantly recharging their wands (cantrip).
Probably deadlier than an Ancient Lich; but good chance of excellent loot. Place at same rarity in Depths as Caustic Shrikes (in bands of 1)...
